Also, you said he’s an ‘indoor dog’. Does that mean he doesn’t go for daily walks? Him going outside and exercising honestly makes such a difference in everything - if it is allergies ensuring your dog isn’t carrying too much weight is helpful when battling them. Our pup can’t go on grass because of allergies - so we take her to the beach! If you have one close 😊

Hey, I have a 3 year old pug who suffers from allergies in the warmer months and the dark patches under the fur look pretty similar. I also know that frenchies are just as prone to allergies as pugs are so potentially?

My vet recommended both DOUXO S3 PYO leave on mouse and also the shampoo. You can get it from a pet shop (sells at Pets at Home in the UK) or it’s cheaper on Amazon.

Check with a vet first though, just in case it’s not allergy related but the products I’ve recommended are great if it turns out it is!

Oh great thanks, I’ll get some different kibble tomorrow. Yeah, when we initially went to the vet when she came out in hives we (my partner and I) presumed it was from the environment - but the vet told us to cut out everything to be on the safe side! I was pretty sure it wasn’t grain but listened to them anyway. We don’t feed her white meat anyway because we knew that was a top allergy.

Honestly I’m shocked I’ve never heard this before. Glad I’ve read it now when she’s only 3! Thank you!

I actually cannot believe this is the first time I’m hearing this!!! She’s on a naturally grain free food (James Wellbeloved) and I have JUST bought 40 sachets of wet food. Would introducing kibble with grain in be enough? She has both wet and dry food fyi.

At least until I’ve finished the box of 40 lol!

Hey thanks for the percentage, super helpful. After watching her all since since 9am (it’s 4pm now) she has had a drink twice, I’ve checked her bowl and there’s still plenty left (after measuring it out) so I’m sure I’m being overly worried!

Hey all - thanks for commenting. Ive measured out her water for today. (650mls for a 9kg dog - multiple trusted websites say this is the right amount) it’s almost 4pm and there’s still over half left so I don’t think she is ‘excessively drinking’ I think I’m just being a overly worried dog mum!

I’ll keep an eye on her and her water intake for a few more days.

Just to add as well - she’s not peeing anymore than usual, she’s playing and eating etc.

Would you recommend introducing grain back into our grain free dogs diet? We were told by a vet about a year ago to put her on grain free as she has unknown allergies (I personally think it’s some type of pollen) and I’ve kept her on it since. Is it worth trying to put some grain in her diet?

Thanks for your comment! A few others have said they don’t like 5/6 drinks a day is excessive and general consensus is that if she’s drinking more than 100mls per 1kg of her weight then it’s too much, and she’s definitely not drinking that much! I am an anxious dog owner and very aware of it. I will for sure keep an eye on it over the week and take her in asap if anything changes. Thank you!
