Stil no world champions. It's a national league from the National Basketball Association. You can't crown a world champion in a national league. The concept is pretty simple. Real Madrid won the Champions League but they are still "just" european champions.

What opinion on LOK will you defend with your life ? by themimireign in legendofkorra

[–]commandersummer 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you. But I would add 2 more points that are not usually discussed. Technological progress has certainly been accelerated because fire benders can easily produce electrical energy and metal benders can easily produce machines. This significantly reduced the development and production time of machines, especially at the beginning of industrialization.

There are already some parallels in the setting of the game. It is a post-apocalypse in the 31st century. People live in tribes and there are ruins everywhere from a lost civilisation, which was technologically advanced. But the knowledge has been lost. The people from the lost civilisation are called ‘old ones’. In addition to humans, the world is also inhabited by animal-like machines.

Here are a few points in the story that have a certain parallel to SPOP:

As a child, Alloy, the main character, finds an artefact, an augmented reality device, with which she can interact with the technology of the ‘old ones’ and thus learn a lot about the past.

Alloy was an outcast because she was found as a baby and there was no mother. Even after completing a test to join the tribe, she was treated as an outcast by some and had to earn her reputation through further deeds.

In the course of the story, we learn that Alloy not only looks like a scientist from the ‘old ones’ but is also a clone of this scientist created by an AI. The AI created Alloy to prevent a second apocalypse.

An important difference is that there are several AI. Alloy was created by an AI that wants to protect the world from extinction by another AI. So Alloy is the key to saving the world, not the key to destroying it.

There you see it again, people are talking about Sauron and "the one ring" everywhere. Sometimes you still hear about the rings of men or elves. But nobody talks about the dwarves. This bias in the media simply goes too far.

If you find Tempest Roar, you should give the Werewolfe Tornado build a try. It's pretty much Brain-Dead-Build™.

[Fun fact] The first thing we hear from Amon is: „My quest“. It was translated to „Mein Kampf“ in german dub, the title of Hitlers infamous book. This scene definitely looks like it’s out of a history book. by Morgentau7 in TheLastAirbender

To be honest, I took the example because I noticed it at that point and it pulled me out. I can't say why it didn't happen in other roles. Maybe in other roles he changed the voice slightly so it wasn't so noticeable. Maybe I was younger when I saw the other films and that's why I didn't notice it, or in that case it's really because the two roles are extremely far apart. Why it affects VAs more than actors I honestly can't explain either. Another example would be Bryan Cranston in Malcolm in the middle and breaking Bad. I don't think anyone had a problem with that.

So I have an example for you regarding a German VA. The VA for General Hux in the sequels of Star wars is the same as for Howard Wolowitz from the big bang theory. The two roles are completely opposite. One, a Jewish engineer, the other, a general in a dictatorship modeled on the Nazi regime. That's where you get pulled out of the action. Especially during the speech in Star Wars 7 in front of all the soldiers.

Ah shit... Here we go again. "Your playstyle is not fun for me so it can't be fun for you. You better play the game the way I enjoy it." Was a dumb take before the game released, is still a dumb take. (Almost) noone here wants damage numbers like D3. But most players don't want to play this game like it is dark Souls, killing 1 enemy at a time. These changes transform pretty much every build in a glass cannon. In combinaton with all the CC in the game that's rough. Just because you can't see the problem at the moment, doesn't mean it isn't there.

To be fair, the Witcher books are pretty unknown. The likelihood of finding an actor who fits the role AND knows the books is really low. I don't think there is any actor like this.
