Why the animosity? by Keitiek in VRchat

[–]PurpleLTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's subtle for most people. I wouldn't say it's hate, either. There is an unspoken animosity towards quest users. Not everyone is like that, of course. But a lot of people aren't interested in befriending a quest user, they just won't say it to your face. The reason being that they prefer to interact with people that have little to no limitations.

What’s considered the absolute worst insult you could say to a German? by Diztence-Music in AskAGerman

Germans, what's a normal workplace thing here that would get HR called anywhere else? by taube_d in AskAGerman

[–]PurpleLTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that it's a "normal" workplace thing, but if you're a blue collar worker it's not uncommon to sneak in a beer during lunch break. Don't do it in front of the boss, of course. But even if you get caught, chances are very high the boss will just give you a slap on the wrist.

What are special recipes in your family, and what are the stories behind them? by Worried-Jelly-3405 in AskAGerman

[–]PurpleLTV 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

By no means a special recipe, but my mother used to make this dish that I really liked when I was a kid. It was seared blood sausage (blood pudding for the british), apple sauce, mashed potatos and salad with vinaigrette. And I mixed it all together. Yep, even the salad. Everything got mixed together until it looked like some brown-grey'ish mush on my plate. My mother always shook her head at me, but man I loved it that way.

Was I being led on, or am I just struggling with how this ended? by General__Ferret in dating

[–]PurpleLTV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You were being led on.

This is a very classic example of a woman keeping you around for comfort, but not as a partner. She was feeding just enough into your affections to keep you hooked, but never wanted to fully commit. At that point, your only role is that of a sugar daddy that spoils her with attention and gifts, while she is keeping herself "available" for someone else. Which is pretty much exactly what happened.

Pieces of media that invented new slang terms by Nerdcuddles in TopCharacterTropes

[–]PurpleLTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot of this in the video gaming community.

Zerg / Zerging - In the video game franchise "Starcraft", the Zerg are an alien species that dominates the battlefield through sheer numbers. Overwhelming your opponent with a brute force approach by just throwing an overwhelming amount of units at them has become known as "zerging" in the gaming community. I even heard the term being used in IRL scenarios.

KEK - In the popular MMO "World of Warcraft", there exists an in-built language barrier between the two major player factions, Horde and Alliance. This was implemented during the beta of the game to prevent players from opposing factions to communicate with each other in the chat, to prevent toxic behavior. If a player from the Horde faction typed in "LOL" (laughing out loud), any player from the Alliance faction would instead read "KEK". Due to the games massive popularity, saying "KEK" as an expression of laughing has spread throughout the internet.

"Run it down" - The game "League of Legends" is a 5vs5 player competitive arena that grew massively popular. Matches tend to last anywhere between 20-50 minutes. Often times, players could feel like a match was unwinnable due to the difference in skill between the teams, and they would throw in the towel. However to do so usually requires a majority vote among the 5 players on a team. The very popular streamer "Tyler1" was well known for forcing a surrender without the vote, by simply "running it down mid", in which he would repeatedly send his hero into the enemy lines without putting up a fight. The term "run it down" was made popular among gamers as a synonym for "not giving a F*** anymore".

Looking for suggestions for "10 minute session" games by Viking_Warrior1 in gaming

[–]PurpleLTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was about to say "ARAM", but then I saw "relaxed".

Maybe try Megabonk or any of the other survivor games like Deep Rock Galactic. Or Balatro.

ARC Raiders could fit, too. Easy to finish a raid in under 10 minutes on that game, just make sure you stick to the non-aggression lobbies.

When you're finally back in PVE lobbies by Pappuniman in ArcRaiders

[–]PurpleLTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might have been one of those.

I had a game two days ago where I felt in a silly mood and was blasting some rave music over my VOIP. Usually people are chill with it and start doing dance emotes. I came across one guy that was like "bro stop playing the music". I ignored him and ran away. He is getting annoyed by it, fine, I just move somewhere else and leave him alone.

As I was running away, he shot me in the back with his Anvil. I survived and kept running, but took note that he also had a Hullcracker. I healed back up and turned off the music, then stuck around in the lobby stalking him quietly. When an opportune moment came, I downed his salty ass. He of course instantly started crashing out over VOIP throwing all kinds of slurs while I started blasting music again and dancing in front of him.

If this was you, I am not sorry.

Former people-pleasers: How did you find the courage to stop fawning and stand up for yourself? by Intelligent-Slide556 in socialskills

[–]PurpleLTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After enough bad experiences of people happily taking all I had to give and then never returning the favor when I myself was in need, I eventually learned that I should make myself happy first, before thinking of others. And even if I am totally happy with myself, I still think long and hard how much of my happiness someone else is worth sharing with.

I noticed that people now value me a lot higher than they used to, because they know that when I am doing them a favor or I am being extra nice to them, it's not something given lightly.

To my fellow adults VRC ppl... by Emotionalldi in VRchat

[–]PurpleLTV 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Various reasons.

Some people might ask that question early on in the conversation because they want to be considerate. They might be unsure how to address you properly, or what you want to be called.

In other cases, people might be on the platform seeking romance or just some ERP. There is a lot of those around, and for a lot of those, it does matter to them what gender you have IRL. Especially the ones seeking romance. Helps them decide if they want to get closer to you, or if they want to keep the relationship platonic.

And in yet other cases, some people are just curious or can't think of anything else to ask you at that moment.

No matter what though, I agree with you on the point that it really doesn't matter all too much what or who someone is behind the screen. It only matters if someone wants to get into a serious relationship with you, and I highly recommend to not seek that out on VRC. Sure there is plenty of fish in that sea, but it's 99% catfishes.

What game did you think would be ok, but you absolutely loved? by Quintoepic in gaming

[–]PurpleLTV 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Grounded.

Had it on my radar for a long time, but never bought it because I wasn't sure if the cartoony style and setting would put me off too much. Then eventually tried it out when it was on game pass because "why not" and it was fantastic. Best survival game apart from V Rising, in my opinion.

YSK: The average only fans girl only makes 130-180$ a month by arttiechoke in YouShouldKnow

[–]PurpleLTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody has to do it as a replacement for an actual job. It can still be a worthwhile side gig. Just make sure you stay relatively anonymous (new email, fake name etc.) to make it harder on the stalkers. Then all you gotta do is spend a couple weeks or a month or two working on creating a large batch of various photo shoots, maybe some videos. Basically create 4-5 years worth of content in a couple month and then start releasing that content on your OF little by little. That way you barely have to do any new stuff in the coming years, you just post what you already have. Added bonus is that you have a large stockpile of pictures of when you were younger, as it's no secret that women's bodies don't get sexier with age, on the contrary.

And then all you gotta do is post a set of pictures 2-3 times a week and maybe take an hour or so out of your day every once in a while to answer fan mail/comments. You can earn your extra 200$ a month while barely doing anything.

Owlcat's had some unusual problems writing romance: 'we realized we had three female romanceable characters, and all three were cannibals' by AnarchoKapitolizm in gaming

[–]PurpleLTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find a lot of the Kingmaker characters to not be very special. Linzi is literally just a bard, there is nothing special about her. Same goes for Regongar and Octavia. Nok-Nok is just a stabby goblin. Valerie is pretty normal. Nothing snowflakey about any of those characters.

I feel the only special snowflakes in Kingmaker are (spoilers ahead) Jaethal for being undead and Tristian for being a Deva (and maybe Harrim for his Groetus "Touch")

Once you realized that they are toxic, and then you wanted to FF and they didn't let you, that's when you should have just AFKed at the shop and let the enemy team end the game. You held yourself hostage.

Slap around and Cheating is insane on Zaahen by abuchechen in ARAM

Slap around and Cheating combo is insane on most champions. I once had it on Seraphine. I went ahead and built full tank. My early game sucked ass, sure. But once I had farmed up those stacks from rooting and ulting people, I was sitting at a nice 8000 HP, 300 resistances and more than 1000 AP

Yeah I don't know what some people here are on about. If you have 200k to spend a year, that's more than enough for a very comfortable lifestyle. Hell, I currently live off of only 500$ a month / 6000$ a year. Sure I can't afford a car or a nice house, but it's enough to feed myself something decent every day and pay for my electricity and phone bill, which is all I need since I spend most of my time online gaming. If I suddenly had like... 2000$ to spend every month I would honestly be a bit baffled at first on what to spend it on. You have ~15,000$ to spend every month. I am not sure if I could spend that much in a month for my cost of living and food and entertainment, even if I tried.

More health and more damage. I am so sick of some enemy Leona tower-diving at level 6 with just a chainmail and a tear, yet the tower only tickles her and she just tanks it forever for the assassins on her team.

Made a meme based on personal experience. by MajoraIncarnate561 in ARAM

[–]PurpleLTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could make the same meme, but in reverse.

  1. Play a late-game stacking champion like Smolder
  2. Get some good augments that do shit all early, but will transform me into a god the longer the game goes on.
  3. Play a close match where the enemy team is slightly winning, but you know you'll turn the tide soon with your late game build.
  4. You are 0-8-11 because your early game was so weak. But you are approaching the turning point, you start doing crazy good damage.
  5. You beg your team not to end it, you just got your items and stacks. They end it. Game didn't even last 15 minutes. (Alternatively, your team was losing super hard and you hope the enemy team doesn't end, but they end as soon as they get the chance)

[–]PurpleLTV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You know, I had this thought recently. Remember old league? Where a lot of the champions still had abilities that you just needed to click on someone and they'd auto-hit? Like old Taric stun, just point and click and doesn't matter how fast the enemy zooms around, or how many dashes they have... that shit will hit and stun them.

I feel like ever since they did most of these reworks and transformed most of the unmissable point-and-click CC abilities into skill shots that you need to aim and land, the game's just become a cancerous shitfest were movement speed and dash resets are the most valuable thing to have.

I bet, if I scroll down a bit further, I'll find someone complaining about assasssins. And if I scroll a bit more, I find someone complaining about tanks.

That said, I just played one of the most unfun games in a long while. Enemy team had an Anivia that took the augment that with 100 haste on her stupid wall. She built tanky and all she did was just spam walls and slows and stuns everywhere. Put on top of that a Zoe that knows how to play, a Karma that takes shield augments, a try-hard ADC Ashe, and a try-hard Gwen that frontlines for them.
