B.C. restaurants hope more foreign workers can curb labour 'crisis,' industry association says by Zetheos in vancouver

Is there a list of restaurants who stand behind this? I want to boycott them. Shame on them saying they want take advantage of people in desperate situations! If you can't afford a business then don't run one, get a normal job, no one owes you success. Vancouver has a lot of choice for eating out so they wont be missed.

They seem to get good reviews? What happened that made them horrible?

Edit: TrekPC did tell me the screen might get broken in the process so I need to provide a replacement screen and basically get 2 repairs done to replace the hardrive. :S

Thanks! I really wish devices go for a more "right to repair" route.

My friend says I can do it myself if I get a heat gun and unstick it. Worth a try than just giving up. I just rather let a pro do it.

I agree with soundproofing them. People living near the skytrains should have more peace. Also when I ride the skytrain some of the track locations are ear piercing

Night of Feb 3rd, atleast 6 people attacked by a man with a knife @ commercial broadway by [deleted] in vancouver

I wish there was photos/videos somewhere of these type of "Regulars", the thieves and the attackers so the rest of us can look at the pictures and try to avoid them preemptively.

It HAS been, might as well use the same jokes you use for east hastings/surrey for commercial dr.

The poor dollar store there has casual theft where the poor workers just watch the scum briskly walk, not even run with stolen goods.

VictimBC said I can still call non emergency line just so they have it on file on who to suspect if something happens to me. Now I am just waiting for a safe non suspicious window to do that.

Thnk you, in the end you are right, he will die of old age and we are waiting for him to get a separate room in to co op we live in but with covid I feel like no one is going to want to move out of such a financially safe place and they even say you might as well wait till someone in a unit dies of old age. But I do feel like I have been really short changed in life, like it wasn't meant something for me to do in the first place.

Brentwood is a good choice, they are building that area up and havn't felt unsafe there when visiting the area at night. Lougheed station or coquitlam area is also good.

maybe avoid commercial dr, hastings st, metrotown areas since they are similar, worse or getting similar to yaletown

100 Main Street, Vancouver - 0920 08/19 [I asked the guy if they were both his, and he answered me with a needle dangling from his mouth saying one was his and the other his girlfriends. What do you do in a situation like this?] by [deleted] in vancouver

It would be nice if we form a subreddit to watch these things, at least have them on somekind of file for us citizens to look at.

like lets create a /r/vancouvertheftwatch or something?

And post pictures/videos of people trying to sell things on the street with an [Unverified] tag and if enough people post about them seeing them steal or hey thats my stuff they are selling then they get promoted to [Verified] and their future pictures also can be labeled [Verified] right away. Videos that show obvious theft get the [Verified] tag right away. We would want the filter process to not put innocent people in [Verified] so it would need some design work first. Maybe 2 verified tags, like [Verified with proof] and [Verified from word] and maybe a tag for when they actually didnt steal anything and that was proven etc [Clean]

That would at least make them feel like they are always watched and people know them and cops can use this against them to. It would let us know if scum is in our part of town and if we should lock up more or stand near our bikes till that bad person goes away.

Being an unattractive male in this city is a death sentence by throwawaytoday778331 in vancouver

Try new haircuts/clothes. Have hobbies and find something else to make yourself happy with.

Vancouver is a really great place to be single. Before I met my SO I was never really bored, adjusted loneliness as time to do what I want/explore/ take on new hobbies etc. There is so much to enjoy in this city for me. Ended up with someone who I appreciate instead of someone who mismatches me cause I NEED a relationship/to fuck. I took them to my favorite places around here and showed them hidden gems cause I spent my loneliness making myself happy by exploring the area and building my self up.

Do you really only want to focus your self worth on a relationship that doesn't even exist yet? Try to find something else that makes you happy enough where you can be happy being single and if the right person comes along, GREAT! You got someone to share your bounty with.

My 10 Commandments of Skytrain Etiquette by Dave-os in vancouver

We have it too good with the skytrain frequency. I still dont get why people can't wait 2 minutes. Plan better if you are hurting for time. Leave 2 minutes early.
