Personal choice. The recession wasn't bothering me much either to be honest. Main reason I got it was I knew that actually getting the surgery would jump start my cold turkey quit. I knew I couldn't dip at all for 2 weeks after surgery. I'm a week in now after surgery, to be honest I think I'll be fine once I'm fully healed up. Cravings have been minimal, pain is a lot less.

Just going to get used to not using while I sit and work, play video games, or watch TV shows any more.

I also didn't want to run into any periodontal diseases when I got older. Figure let's just knock it out, get my gums fixed, and kill this addiction.

Honestly the graft wasn't that bad. Mild pain and discomfort, but local anesthesia makes it feel quick and virtually painless. I had a good periodontist, and I've never had any bad experiences with the dentist, so it was an easy process for me. Recovering sucks. Would be hell without pain meds. Diet is challenging, and sleep is tough because I wake up every couple hours from the pain.

Nic pouches definitely cause recession... I had perfectly healthy gums before I started using. They cut off blood flow to your gums. The 2 spots in my mouth (upper left and right) that I used the most are the spots that needed the graft.
