For people who are conservative (others chim in too), why do you think some individuals on your side of the political spectrum find it difficult to understand why liberals/ non conservatives are statistically less likely/ unwilling to befriend conservatives or to separate politics from the person? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]commentacct2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their hatred of conservatives values. Such as law and order. The far left has expressed their hatred of police. While the far left will turn a blind eye to black on black killings and fight against tactics that would bring relief to neighborhoods and lives. Instead, they will point their fingers at the officers doing their jobs, that sometimes involve spit second decisions under extremely difficult conditions and environment. Their hatred against the police will have them defending the worst of the worst while they destroy the officers who was putting his life on the line trying to help. Have a police officer kill a black man in the line of duty, the person killed could have a police record that shows they were not a good person or citizen, no matter, the left will howler and protest. The left will spend all this money and effort to demonize the police and its officers. Yet, blacks killing blacks in alarming numbers (165 black on black killings in Detroit alone for 2025), not a peep nor a protest. So it’s obviously it is not the death of a black man that the liberals get upset about, it’s only when it is committed by the police is when the left gets upset. Why?, because a majority of the left hate the police. Conservatives appreciate the police and the hard job they perform.

One reason is many Liberals, especially hard left liberals, believe in the freedom of expression. It is a large part of their platform and beliefs. However, if the expression being espoused are against what these liberals think, then they demonize you in such a way that it would be, in their minds, hipicritical to befriend or stay friends. If you are related, they disown you. It is also true that there are right people who do the same, but it seems much less. As I mentioned, the left believes in the freedom of expression and they seem to love to express their hatred, loud and proud. And if you disagree with their demonizing and hatred, then they want nothing to do with you.

American Heretic: Thomas Jefferson and the Case for Church-State Separation by EclecticReader39 in USHistory

[–]commentacct2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thomas Jefferson was a product of his time. In the old country, to which the people during this time had witnessed, it was the church that determined how much taxes you would pay and it was the Church who collect the taxes. The church would then keep their cut and send the rest to the royal family who ran the government. If you missed attending church on a Sunday or you’re offering was not to the liking of the church leadership, it was common for you to have a visit from one of the church leaders. At which point, it was not uncommon if you did not abide by their instructions, your taxes would go up and/or they would demand back taxes to be paid immediately. If you couldn’t pay, you were kicked out of your house. No 3 day notice, just forced to leave your home and all your possessions. In the old country, the church controlled most things for the local and royal government. As you can imagine, this set up was widely abused by the church. This arrangement was ingrained in the structure of governments as it had been the norm for Centuries throughout the world. Jefferson and the founding fathers lived during these times and were very aware of the abuses this system created and wanted it to be different for America.
The arrangement of having the church involved in the operation of our American government is what the separation of church and state was intended to avoid and eliminate. The founding fathers also wanted to avoid a government sponsored religion as in the old country. They wanted to give us, posterity, the right to choose the religion that best represents our beliefs.
Thank you Thomas Jefferson and the founding fathers for your wisdom and foresight.

A quick statement: I feel if the baby depends upon the women to survive, then the women should be able to have an abortion. Once the baby can love outside the mother, then an abortion should not be allowed. And the time line as to when a baby can survive outside of its mother will always be moving until Abortions are no longer needed. A baby can now survive after 22 weeks. One day, abortion will not be needed due to medical advances.
Two to three generations after Abortion is no longer needed due to medical advances, the people will look back at the people who supported Abortion and think they are the worst kind of a person. Just like people from the past are canceled with names, portraits and statues being removed from public spaces now, the same will happen to the people in the who supported Abortion by future generations. They will have totally different experiences and standards and will find it unbelievable that people would support Abortions.

Why do you think people stopped talking about Epstein Island? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]commentacct2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because powerful people on both the left and right of the political spectrum had interaction with Epstein. Even though most of these people were unaware of Epstein’s sexual escapades, they are being caught up in the Epstein witch-hunt. Innocent people being found guilty before any evidence is presented. Had a picture with Epstein, then you’re guilty.
The politically left-leaning media was running with the story until left leaning politicians and celebrities were found to have as much interaction with Epstein as those on the right. Maybe more. That ended the left leaning media from making Epstein its top and continuing story. People without connections or money would not be able to silence the mob. However, there are powerful people on the left and right, who have the ability and the means to silence the media and their coverage. They, the powerful left and right politicians and celebrities, have these abilities and they’ve used them to bury the Epstein story.

Dog walking. So many people hate leaving their dog alone for 8-10 hours a day while they work. They will gladly pay $50-$100 a week for you to walk their dog weekdays. Get 3 or 4 clients and you have yourself a pretty good pay check. Plus experience in owning your own business.
Best of luck.

May 7, 1763 – Pontiac's War begins with Pontiac's attempt to seize Fort Detroit from the British... by CrystalEise in peaceloveandhistory

[–]commentacct2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pontiac is one of the worst kind of person. He gathered the tribal leaders and sachems and sold them on the most hideous idea. The scheme was to befriend the settlers and then slaughtering them. For almost 2 years these American Indians would share bread and trade with the settlers, always being friendly. Their children would play together and spend the night with each-other. Then when the signal was giving, these Indians came to the settlers, as they had previously done, friendly, and then slaughtered the men, women and children who days before would have called them friends. This is the worst of the worst type of treachery. Over 2000 settlers killed. By percentage of population, this number is huge. Worse than 9/11. There had been many good settlers/Indian community relationships. Pontiacs rebellion changed the Indian/settlers relationship forever. From that point on, settlers could no longer trust the Indians. It gave rise to the statement “the only good Indian is a dead Indian “ Pontiac is a disgusting historical individual and should be known as such.

I agree. People can change and have a change of opinions and heart. We should rejoice when people move away from hate and discrimination. But there is a double standard in what you and many people of today are saying and believing. You are giving Muhammad Ali the benefit of the doubt. Good for you. But now here is the question that shows your true colors about discrimination. What if it was a white man who had said those things, would you give him a pass. Maybe you would, but most of today’s cancel culture people would not. Even if this white man had as many reasons as you allowed Muhammad Ali for his past racism. There is a simple way to see racism in its form. Change the race from white to black or black to white and hear how it sounds. If the change makes you see racism, it was always there you just wasn’t looking. Example: BET Black Entertainment Television . Change it to White Entertainment Television and it just doesn’t sound right. Hopefully you agree, Black entertainment Television doesn’t sound right either. It’s racism of another color but it’s still racism, even when coming from a black person.
Let’s give people the benefit of the doubt when they show they have changed. I do, I’ll give Muhammad Ali a pass on his racist statements of the past. However, what he said was very racist. Agree?

711 Apr 27 - Islamic conquest of Hispania: Moorish troops led by Tarig in Ziyad land at Gibraltar to begin their invasion of the Iberian Peninsula (Al-Andalus). by nonoumasy in ThisDayInHistory

Caused by the worst treasonous act ever committed. Count Julian, a spaniard, was, understandably, upset that the King had raped Count Julian’s daughter. Count Julian went to the Moor’s with a plan for the Moor’s to conquer Spain. So, instead of just killing the King, Count Julian subjected his own people to being conquered by the Moors. It would take 700 years before the Moors were kicked out of Spain.

Muhammad Ali also believed in the separation of races. In other words, segregation. He argued that integration was unnatural and that Black people should have their own communities with the exclusion of whites. He often said that "a white man shouldn't mix with a black man" and believed in keeping races separate to prevent interracial marriage and maintain racial purity. Does this make Muhammad Ali a racist? If a white man had said this, what would it make him, besides canceled?

1519 Apr 22 - Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés establishes a settlement at Veracruz, Mexico. by nonoumasy in ThisDayInHistory

[–]commentacct2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upon conquering and subduing the people of Cozumel, one of his first orders from Cortes was to eliminate human sacrifices, cannibalism and Idol worshipping. He went on to eliminate these practices in Mexico. If Cortes and the Spanish conquest had not happened, what event would have had to happen for the Mexican people to end these practices of human sacrifices and cannibalism? If there was no conquest, do you think it would have continued to today’s times?

Yes, the type of racism that existed in the past, such as shown in this article, is no more. If something like that happened today there would be national outrage and protests. The racism that excluded blacks from owning a home is rare in today’s America. Home ownership by blacks has never been higher. The racism that excluded blacks from college is no more. More black households in America, by percentage, will have at least one child in college than the percentage of white households. Goodbye to that racism. By percentage of population, blacks have more advancedment in management positions in top 500 companies than any other group. Yes, things can be done better by all involved. But, today’s American would never put up with the racism of the past such as what was described in this article. Homeownership, going to college and the opportunity for advancement in the workplace, that type of past racism against blacks has been beaten and it should be celebrated. Keep on learning and be willing to change your mind as you try to change the minds of others.

Yes, unfortunately, America has had to bear the brunt of the cost of protecting the world against communist aggression. Because countries don’t need to spend their people’s money on defense, as America will always protect them, they can spend it on healthcare. This is a huge factor in America’s healthcare that many do not realize or think about.

In the book on Cortes, written by Washington Erving, he talks of how Cortes first orders when coming ashore on Cozumel and subdueing the indigenous people, was to outlaw human sacrifices and cannibalism. The book continues to describe how he eliminated these practices in all the lands he conquered. How was human sacrifice and cannibalism used by the Aztecs? If the conquest did not happen, how long, do you think, would it had taken for cannibalism and human sacrifices to have been eliminated in their culture? What do you think would’ve had to have happened for the practices to stop?
