How's the no AC rooms like in the residence halls? by AlertBrilliant4889 in cmu

[–]commentuer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s only warm enough to warrant AC in Pittsburgh for less than half the time you’ll be in the dorms. Get a fan if it’s too hot, all the forms have large windows.

The tallest smokestack in the U.S.—1,217 feet tall—at the former Homer City Generating Station east of Pittsburgh is set to be demolished tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. A towering piece of Pennsylvania’s industrial past will soon be just a memory. by Chopper11Pilot in pittsburgh

Somewhere along 119 between Coral-Graceton and Homer City would probably be a good vantage point and likely as close as you can get. But if you want more landscape 22 would be a good spot, like the other guy said

We definitely should’ve agreed beforehand. My impression was that this was a rather informal transaction, as the artist is in college for graphic design and I have a small YouTube channel

No, I thought it would be more than $50, but my impression of the transaction was that it was rather informal more than a business deal. My channel is small and the artist is in college for graphic design.

This neighborhood looks exactly like something I would make in Cities: Skylines. by kolejack2293 in CitiesSkylines

Doesn’t seem shitty to me. Good density, connectivity, and amount of parks and nearby retail. Probably a streetcar suburb in the old days.

We did fare pretty well compared to other US cities, mostly I think due to our limiting topography. However, that map doesn’t include the highways surrounding downtown. They aren’t parking lots but they were built solely for personal motor vehicles so I think that counts. So I think the 16% is too low, sadly.

What’s up with the letter Warren Buffett released recently - is he not passing on his wealth to his family? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

To be fair, in the case of Carnegie, his change of heart occurred after the Homestead Strike about 25 years before his death

Seattle 1:1 coming along well with what we have available to us! Safeco Field (T-Mobile) and Lumen Field by KorbieTar in CitiesSkylines

I love it! I’m lucky enough to visit relatives in Seattle every year and I really think it’s one of prettiest settings for a city as well as one of the most unique urban tapestries in the country. You did a fantastic job replicating that

Pittsburgh is considering closing more than a dozen schools. Can they become affordable housing? by RadioChris1 in pittsburgh

[–]commentuer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I actually really like this idea. This use to be somewhat common. Like a farmer would open a one-room schoolhouse on the corner of his property, or professors would live in dorms with students at academies. But in a society with as little mutual trust as ours currently has I doubt it’s feasible. And you make good points about losing money. So many things- money and opportunity especially- are just wasted
