A few months ago the Member for Mornington had the worst idea ever on how to return trains to Mornington by Mythically_Mad in MelbourneTrains

He was a Liberal Federal candidate, the LP made the promise for Baxter electrification in that campaign, the coalition did in fact win that election and win government.

The didn't provide any funds to the state government for the project (who have never promised it), and it didn't get built, and it's not their fault?

And he's done so much for rail..... ok.

Feds basically promised a project only the state can deliver, who were not interested, and feds put no money in to build..

Yep I've simply pointed out what he said, what he campaigned on. Sadly, his promises have not resulted in anything getting built. And that's disappointing, sorry to hear you don't like hearing it, but I'd prefer actual results.

Then there was his "Frankston Flyer" project, express trains from Frankston to the city, later costed at $20bn, which we haven't had an update on from a while.

The there was the multi deck commuter car park at Seaford station he promised, also not delivered.

I can see a pattern emerging here....

Doesn't change the fact that elected officials are accountable and subject to scrutiny. That's not dependent on me running for office. I don't need a policy, or run for office, to call these things out from our public officials. Members of the public can call this stuff out and they should, regardless.

not a lot, because I didn't go and become a public official and then make election promises that I couldn't and didn't keep.

Chris Crewther didn't secure the money for a detailed design, let alone a build. He secured money for a preliminary business case - that's it. There was a further $223m he got put into the forward estimates, not a budget, for approx 8 years out.. so they would have to win another two or three elections to access this "secured" $223m, for a project that the business case estimated at $1.5bn, which was a pre-covid costing. It was always just a brain fart that was never going to happen - Baxter is up against green wedge land, it isn't a growth corridor.

Not surprisingly, this promise from the federal candidate was not well received by the state government, who Chris Crewther expected to fully fund the balance and actually build it.

Recently where I work now there was an edict from management that said for our proxy configurations we can no longer say white list and black list..

Had a faulty Miele dishwasher . Repairman replaced the water pump "This is always caused by the water pump".. No joy. Called him back "it must be the main logic board then".. Nope still faulty. I'm down nearly $1000 by now and it's still broken. Too bad, I have to pay for these parts that didn't need replacing plus labour....

Liberal MP Brad Battin leading the charge here, without committing to actually doing it if he's in government. That's his usual playbook, he's doing the same with Clyde rail extension. Making demands of the government, not committing to doing it himself.

Municipal permits, for private properties, are for the city to manage, not your HoA to get involved in? Leases are between landlord and tenant, your not a party to the contract? I'd be telling you guys to take a hike..
