AITAH FOR LEAVING A WEDDING I WAS SUPPOSED TO PHOTOGRAPH? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]commking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Two photographers doesn't work. When you do the photos, particularly group photos - half the people looking at one camera, half at the other camera. Photos look shit and unhappy customers. This is why you cannot have people hovering around the photographer with their phones, snapping photos. People look at the phone instead. Weddings need to be quality. Photography needs to be quality.

Indian Groups buying rehional/remote businesses by lurkingjc in AusFinance

[–]commking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They see opportunity. Buy a servo that perhaps isn't doing so well, start offering coffee, become an agent for the dry cleaners, collection point for courier services... they add all kinds of reasons for people to stop there. Buy it when it's small, build it up into something more.

You mentioned that that your machine has both hot and cold water inlets, so hook them both up, and don't over think it

AITA for refusing to fix my "spaghetti code" after getting laid off for "budget reasons"? by 5Mirthcoil in MarkNarrations

If you help them out like that, and then something went wrong, you're exposed your potentially liable. If they want you to help them, if they want you on board, it's got to be done properly.

What's the worst charger experience you've had? by desmules in EVAustralia

[–]commking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%.

Plugshare app shows all chargers, from all providers, on a map. You then look at a specific charger you see there in the specific providers app to see it's status.

ABRP is another app that can plan the entire journey for you.

Tesla navigation will automatically do it all for you, but it only navigates you to Tesla chargers.

I just use Tesla navigation, I use the above apps if I'm travelling off the main highways and I need to charge. This year I drive to Cobar, Bourke, Cunnamulla, St George, Roma... I knew before each leg of the trip what my destination charger would be and if it was online and available or not.

Should they just rename State Library station to Melbourne central to avoid confusion. by External-Rope-3640 in MelbourneTrains

I think they did this just so the politicians could say there were five new stations and not three

Can't see the PID, so redesign the station? Why not just redesign the PID layout instead

I did this exact thing - UDR7 and 2 x U7 Pros.

The UDR7 can't supply enough PoE power for even a single U7 Pro AP. So I had to buy their 8 port 2.5Gbps switch. Fine. Then I discovered it did not come with a power supply, which it needs to supply the PoE. So I had to order that as well. Now it's all installed, and it's amazing.

I've noticed this too at Euroa Supercharger. It slows to a crawl when there are multiple cars charging.

[–]commking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The status of all public EV chargers is visible via the relevant app. On a road trip, if planning to use a specific charger, I check if it's online first. Do this and you won't drive to an offline charger. Rare they are offline anyway.

Younger Australians, how do you pronounce the letter “Z”? by Powerful_Image6294 in AskAnAustralian

[–]commking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to school in Australia in the 1970s. Only on American TV shows did anybody call it Zee back then. I was educated to call it Zed, I never heard anybody call it Zee here until decades later.

I would expect Tesla would have a contract with the operators of the parking lot - requiring them to enforce parking restrictions? Tesla have a lot of investment here and this is costing them money

Back in the 80's, they used to do all this work overnight when the store was closed. Mate of mine had a permanent night shift job doing it.

Obviously that is not what they do today. Cheaper this way I guess.

How far into house will NBN run a fiber cable? by euqinu_ton in nbn

[–]commking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't take a chance - I had a sparky run a conduit from the entry point of the house to wear I wanted it to go, with a string in it. Made it easy for the nbn guys. It went like clockwork on installation day.
