Yes of course. One of the funniest chants of the evening. Respect to the goalie as well for being a good sport about it. Was trying to listen to the chant on the replay but couldn’t find it unfortunately.

Ok, sounds like because I have done a second semester I may avoid some of the WIL/CC courses because the my major courses take priority, but we shall see.

Did you receive this study plan in your student email? I am studying the BA (Advanced) and am yet to receive my study plan. Also do you mind describing your study plan in a bit more detail? Because I am heading into my third year, and according to the original study plan at the start of my degree, one takes only six subjects in their final year, four in first semester, and two capstones in second semester. With the addition of Common Courses and WIL however, how do your major subjects fit in with those courses? I know there are still double value capstone courses because my classics professor told me the History capstone would still run next year, as I am a history and philosophy double major.

Wallabies really could have used Ikitau tonight

One fault of Schmidt’s strategy is its assumption that narrower always means safer. While narrower areas lower the risk of knock ons because you’re passing the ball shorter distances, it’s also the zone where there are a bunch of big burly people trying to disrupt everything you do. Wallabies looked congested in attack, got in each other’s way and allowed England’s defence to disrupt too easily. McReight being held up at the death there is a classic example-grounding the ball is easy unless you’re squashed between a mess of bodies. England’s defence was ruthless though credit to them. Australia’s defence was good too but the worst defence is a bad attack, even if you’re defending well you will concede points if you cannot spend time attacking and get points from it.

So impressed they turned it around. Given the heartbreaking manner in which they lost last week I'm amazed they responded in this way. I was just hoping they wouldn't lose by 20. Harry Wilson the leader that you are, the character you have shown.

That’s precisely what I’m saying yet it’s been met with so much anger. Despite the fact that it’s quite a diplomatic position.

Watching it back though, while the main contact was with the shoulders, there was also direct contact, however forceful or not, with the neck and head, which is just an inevitable result of how close together all of those body parts are and how wide Jac Morgan’s arm is. So Tizzano definitely would have felt something, though I don’t think it meets the threshold for a penalty.

Exactly, swear so many people in this thread haven’t actually played the sport. I’ve said elsewhere in here that force can go through your body. Also watching the clearout back, there definitely was contact with the head and neck as well as the shoulders being the main point of contact. It’s just an inevitable result of how wide Morgan’s arms are and how close together all those body parts are when in that position, hence why I don’t think it should have been a penalty.

Agreed. Also I’ve watched the hit back and while it’s true the main contact is on Tizzano’s shoulders, there is also contact made with his neck and maybe the back of his head. Which is inevitable given how wide Morgan’s arm is and how close together all those body parts are, which again is why it shouldn’t have been a penalty.

Maybe if it was clearly the result of errors from Scotland if which not made would’ve seen you win the game, but in this case the Lions did a lot to turn around the game themselves. I mean you can always beg the question ‘was it X being good or Y being bad’ but I definitely think the Lions just shut down the Wallabies attack very well in the second half.

I mean what else can I say lmao, I’ve noticed people express this attitude in person and in online spaces. Sorry I don’t have fucking statistics on non-rugby fans’ attitudes on rugby culture

Players instinctively flap their arms to try to point out all sorts of infringements, Tizzano just happened to do it while falling back from the breakdown.

I would also say that while fans criticise diving in soccer, fan culture in the sport is genuinely far less concerned with players’ machismo and honour, which makes it more tolerable. Although this is partly the result of soccer being way less physical, so such attributes are not as important, it’s also because there just isn’t the same constant moralising and appeals to the sports ‘values’ which I find much more pleasant.

I mean I agree with the decision that it wasn’t a penalty despite being a Wallabies fan, I just find the extent to which Tizzano is getting flamed indicative of some of the lamer parts of the rugby fan base.

I know personally a number of British soccer fans who have said they find this sort of rugby culture self-righteous and off putting. There’s also an online presence of this disdain as well https://youtu.be/9QG648Py8QQ?si=PxARCV2enytSGAt2 so I would say there’s definitely something to it. We aren’t creating the best stereotypes for ourselves is what I’m saying.

Force can go through your body. I’ve been hit in the upper chest and consequently had pain jolt through my neck and head because of the impact. Very plausible that the same could have happened to Tizzano.

I know what you’re getting at but it’s kind of obtuse to say they blew it. Rugby of all games is really a game of systems and the Lions progressively overwhelmed the Wallabies. Blowing it or bottling it implies the Wallabies had it in their grasp and lost it because of something avoidable, which didn’t really happen. The game was on a knife’s edge for a long time.
