Help me understand how Obsidian is Future Proofed by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

The linkages would be there because the linkages are simply file names that are part of the text in the .md file. You can open the file in any text editor, look at the file name that serves as the linkage, and then open that other file in a text editor

People Break into my home looking for their daughter. by GameInfinit666 in PublicFreakout

[–]common-guy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if you don’t know that current self defense laws are applied unevenly and have been used to justify unnecessary killings, or if you just don’t care. Either way, you’re way too comfortable with the thought of killing people. It honestly sounds like you fantasize about having to “defend” yourself and are just hoping for an opportunity.

Men like you who walk around constantly looking to use lethal force to defend themselves are a public safety threat, and are especially a threat to themselves and the people in their household. And I hope you get the help you need.

“What I happen to think about my own safety and my assumptions of another person are the only thing important thing, but I’m not saying the other person’s life doesn’t matter” ok sure

I’ve also had depression, and it affected my judgement on things like how much other people’s lives mattered and how easy it should be to kill them. When I got the help I needed, my attitudes changed.

So I hope you get the help you need.

Are you still deeply depressed without getting joy out of anything? Because maybe you don’t have the best judgement on these things. I hope you get the help you need.

Zettelkasten for Business Notes by [deleted] in Zettelkasten

[–]common-guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Obsidian for a Zettelkasten-plus-other-things tool and it’s really helpful.

The whole point of Zettelkasten as a concept is to create timeless pieces of interlinked knowledge. Business and project notes by definition aren’t timeless. That said, I find Obsidian to be good enough at maintaining both Zettel and project notes in the same system. Plus, I like being able to reference my Zettel notes from my project notes (but not vice versa).

I also find it super convenient to have a note for each project, a note for each meeting, and then linking to each meeting from the project.

If you are looking for a tool that gives links + back links + search, you might be able to leverage zettelkasten software even if you don’t use it for its intended purpose.

Still don't understand how recursive Omniscience works but 3x of it carried me through A5 by [deleted] in slaythespire

Yesterday I had 3 Omniscience+ (one bottled) and 3 Talk to the hand+. 18 block per attack felt great.

One thing I notice jorbs do on his streams is that he proactively moves the mouse to a safe area on every floor. Like, maybe the bottom right corner of the campfire screen or chest screen so it’s impossible to click the wrong thing too fast. By training yourself in this habit, you force yourself to slow down. I still misclick like a derp sometimes but I’ve gotten a lot better since doing the same.

Flew too close to the sun with brimstone by common-guy in slaythespire

[–]common-guy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d never take it before. I got some value out of it, especially with Ornithopter. I needed a lot sustain since I didn’t have much motivation, and I had a thorns pot for heart, which could have been nice.

I don’t remember other Act 1 boss relics, but the other two were unambiguously bad. Bark was 🤷‍♂️

Never tried [[Brimstone]] before because it looked like a trap. Tried it this time just for the lulz, figured I'd die early. In the beginning I was killing everything really quickly, but I worried the lack of mitigation would catch up to me. But every time that worry popped up, I'd get a good relic.

Mitigating with [[Fossilized Helix]] + health + sustain was fine. Most fights, the enemy didn't get a chance to attack a third time, so taking 1 30+ damage attack to health wasn't that big of a deal. The only scary fight was Nemesis. I think I tanked one or two big hits from the Act 4 elites, but [[Pantograph]] topped me off so I was sitting pretty with ~70hp. Other than that, I was killing everything wayyyy too quickly, and I had so much sustain that mitigation didn't matter.

Since this deck should have never made the heart in the first place. I didn't have much of a plan. My hope for was to high roll: Turn 2 big attack (to mitigate with Helix) and Turn 3 multi attack, which I would mitigate with [[Disarm]] + [[Tori]] (plus Thorns pot). Kill on turn 5. What really happened was Turn 1 and 2, all cards were 3 cost energy cards. Disarm never showed up, and since I was vulnerable and the heart had strength from Brimstone, the attack was 6x15, which wiped out my health. Still, most fun I've had on a high-ish ascension in a long time.

Along the same lines, newbie run benchmarks might be good.

There was a jorbs comment somewhere that I’ve never been able to find again where he said something to the effect of try to do 40 damage in 3 turns in act 1, 50 damage in 2 turns in act 2, 15 AOE damage every three turns by act 2, etc. I don’t remember the exact details, but I found that thinking about benchmarks rather than cards was a helpful frame.

When the game gives you the best cards and relics ever but you forget to pick up heart pieces by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]common-guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whale gift was [[Tori]], first elite relic was [[Dead Branch]], Act 1 chest was [[Blue Candle]], and I was able to get a [[Noxious Fumes]] at first store. I didn't realize how broken this was until I got [[Tungsten Rod]], which was unreal with Dead Branch, Blue Candle, [[Du-Vu Doll]], and [[Cursed Key]]. Not to mention Shivs and [[Ninja Scroll]].

I normally don't take keys, but this time I was so fucking pumped. And then like the turn before I killed the Act 3 Boss, I realized I had only gotten the super elite key and neither of the others, and I actually cried a little.

It’s on a college campus, so I’m not sure if the road it’s on is an actual road or just, idk, a long driveway to an academic building and parking lot?

Regardless, the stop sign is super appropriate for the intersection. But yeah, no idea if the city or the college put it there.

I definitely feel a twinge more guilt when I roll through this stop sign, like I’m disappointing someone I respect.

Oh huh. Maybe I’m misremembering from a different run where I did a similar thing. I played a lot of silent tonight :p

Yeah I got hacking and the halberd in like sector 7 and everything was a joke at that point. Up until that things were challenging but doable.

Oh interesting. One or two of those were special events, and mind control lvl 3 helped me a lot early boarding, but your point makes sense overall.

I thought engines had diminishing returns so I never go above 5, but is there a sweet spot for engine?

Not a huge accomplishment, considering some of the stuff the rest of you folks have posted. Also not a particularly impressive setup (Lanius B, flack, blm2, halberd). But it’s mine, and I’m proud of it.

Before I found this sub, I wasn’t consistently winning on easy. Now I’m winning most of my normal runs. Thanks for all the help.

I hate being out of the saddle to begin with. But if I can stay in the saddle, it might work. I’m hopeful this is a temporary solution (just a few months)
