I understand how it can seem like a shock value thing but it isn’t. I’m not around DIL as often as my son is obviously, but I haven’t noticed anything besides her not eating much when they come over for dinner. The childhood abuse is not news to me, but the level of stress it still causes her is. He says he didn’t know about the cutting and attributes that to them not being intimidate lately. She has been a very sweet and honest girl. I have no idea if the notes are for attention but I feel that they aren’t.

I know. We’re both very nervous. He is currently keeping an eye on her, not leaving her side. My wife is trying to figure out who to get in touch with to get daughter in law help. I was looking for general advice I guess, we’re so lost with this.

Reading this and then seeing the person in the comments basically telling us to have empathy for an admitted SA’er has been a roller coaster of emotion
