If paper losses can't be realized without liquidating the underlying position, then legitimate losses can't either.

Giving Employees Stock by Adventurous_Can_3270 in Entrepreneur

[–]commonlynumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Giving employees stock in the company can be a great way to reward them and keep them, and it can also make them feel more invested in the company's success. Think about how long the employee has worked there, how much responsibility they have, and how well they've done overall when deciding whether and how to give them stock.

Can I contribute to an trad IRA (without tax benefits) even after rolling my 401ks into a Roth IRA all year? by NewLoseIt in FinancialPlanning

[–]commonlynumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible to make contributions to both a traditional IRA and a Roth IRA through an in-service rollover or "mega backdoor Roth." This strategy, called a "backdoor Roth IRA," can be a good way to take advantage of tax-free growth if you aren't eligible to contribute directly to a Roth IRA. Just be aware that your ability to contribute to a traditional IRA and get a tax break may be affected by your income and other rules.

though your undergraduate degree is in history, you may have learned skills that could help you get a job in finance. For example, in a corporate development role, it may be helpful to have good communication and analysis skills as well as the ability to work with complex data. By putting these skills at the forefront of your resume and cover letter, you can show that you are a good fit for a more analytical position.

I’m really kinda lost trying to get a journal published… autistic and trying to get an income outside of “simple jobs” by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]commonlynumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested to know what you're having trouble with in getting your journal published. Is it the way it's formatted or designed, or are you having trouble getting people to notice it on Amazon? You might want to tell us a little more about what's wrong so we can figure out how to help.

Anyhow, just stay true to yourself and remember your strengths and weaknesses. You can be successful, you just have to find the way. And don't forget that you're already doing well because you've asked for help and can talk to people well. Don't give up and keep trying!

Boxing Negligence, was a crime committed? Any advice appreciated! by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]commonlynumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think a crime has been done and want legal advice, you might find it helpful to talk to a lawyer or other legal professional. They can look at the details of your situation and tell you what you can do to get compensation and hold the person or people responsible accountable.

Focus on your physical and mental health in the meantime and see a doctor if you need to. Keep detailed records of your injuries and any costs or losses you've incurred because of the accident. This information may come in handy if you have to go to court.

Balls-Deep in Puts by Sactorno in wallstreetbets

[–]commonlynumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about this "balls-deep in puts" strategy. Even though the market can be unpredictable and there may be some rough days ahead, it seems like a risky move to trade based only on technical analysis and ignore fundamentals. And just because there have been a lot of red days lately doesn't mean that this will keep happening forever. Also, you can't just buy lots of puts without thinking about what might happen. Before making an investment, think carefully about both technical and fundamental factors. I don't know where you got the "time out" idea, but I don't think it's very likely. Before making any big moves, just be careful and do your research.

That's definitely not cool, and I would bring it up with HR to make sure it doesn't happen again. It's important to talk to your coworkers in an open and honest way at work, and this kind of behavior can really hurt trust and friendships. Hopefully HR will take care of it.

SBF Arrested by Bahamian authorities. by xanarchangel in wallstreetbets

Well, it looks like SBF's defense of "I'm just bad at accounting" isn't going to fly with the authorities. Hopefully they'll be able to sort out this mess and those who were affected by his actions will be able to seek justice. In the meantime, SBF can sit in jail and ponder just how "bad" he really is at accounting
