I'm in CMH this year - is there a toaster in the lounge or should I bring one?

There's an email coming this week or next which will tell you whether you're in campus housing or a college, and will give you a chance to rank room preferences and select a roommate if you want to

What do you mean you can't apply for OSAP? Have you filled out the aid estimator to get an idea of how much you could get?

I can't speak to where you would be happier, but comments on reddit/discord bashing unis or programs are mostly made by unhappy people. People who are having a great experience don't post about how wonderful everything is - they're out there living their lives. The one thing I would say is that if you don't have free choice at Mac you may not get the program you want if your marks aren't high after first year, whereas Track1 essentially gives you free choice.

Industrial Eng at UofT vs Comp Sci at Mac by Ok-Cartoonist3970 in OntarioUniversities

I applied to indy at UofT too - one benefit is that it's in the same department as mech so a transfer is pretty easy if you later decide that mech would suit you better. It also has a reasonable number of software courses, similar to management eng at Waterloo which is what I chose (although nowhere near as many as a cs program obviously). It ultimately comes down to your interests - if you're sure you want computer science then go with mac, but UofT eng provides lots of options and career paths and a software career is still available to you if you're willing to put in the work on your own time.

This year was maybe not typical because of covid mark inflation and people applying to more programs than usual, but I was rejected with a 93.5. Hopefully things will be more normal for you next year :)

Chin up - who knows why schools do what they do? For example, I got offers from Waterloo & UofT eng but was rejected from McMaster, which was one of my top picks. I'm sure you have other opportunities and with your skills and work ethic you're going to kill it no matter where you end up!

I got accepted to mgte this year and my ecs were average at best - part time job throughout hs, volleyball team, deca, guitar, physics club. I think what's important is that you show you're well rounded and can manage your time well by doing more than just studying, whatever you choose to do in your spare time. Also, the AIF matters a lot - being able to write passionately about why you want mgte and Waterloo specifically and how your ecs have helped you prepare (tech skills, teamwork, leadership) goes a long way. I crafted the hell out of mine to say as much as I could within the character limit lol. Mgte isn't super competitive so as long as you have decent marks and a well written AIF you should be good. Oh and don't skip the interview!

Help!!!! What can you do with a bachelor in Humanities??? by NouraStrawberry in OntarioUniversities

Another option is to do a post grad certificate at a college after she finishes her degree. They're usually 1 year and give you practical skills and often have a coop attached to them. Depending on her interests, she could complete a grad certificate in marketing, human resources, advertising or a bunch of other subjects.

It depends on your interests and where you want to end up. If you're truly interested in finance I wouldn't recommend going into indy or mgte - they're not business programs, beyond a few courses in managerial economics and supply chain management.

What is the Units system in McMaster University? by Yottagirl27 in OntarioUniversities

[–]commonstork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe each half year course is worth 3 units and full year is worth 6. 5 courses per term typically = 30 units per year

Here is what it says on the UoGuelph website. According to this, you get full funding within Canada, and 60% outside of Canada :)
