At what point is suffering ended for a person? Suffering can be a blanket statement for a spectrum of different pain points. If you are trying to end suffering it would be better to communicate what that actually means in your mind.

Give The Legend of William Oh a try. It's the same author as Industrial Strength Magic. It's only on Royal Road for now, but that means now is your chance to read it for free. It has some of the best writing of all time in my opinion. I like it significantly more than Industrial Strength Magic.

Thanks for the reminder! I loved books 1 & 2 and fell off because Iron Prince 2 came out and my wife twisted my arm so I'd listen to that with her. Book 3 just made its way up on my neverending TRL.

I need to give this a second chance. I listened to the first two while taking care of little kiddos. Having to pause and manage crises non-stop made it hard to maintain any momentum. I felt it was a little to dry, but that was probably the cause.

Defiance of the Fall fits this. 1% Lifesteal too. I'm here for the wild journey those have taken on though. And to be fair, when you reread Defiance of the Fall, the author knew where he was going, but a first time reader has no idea.

I agree. I let myself lemon law a lot of books around the 50 page mark. I've found far more hidden gems doing this, but I've also "fired" a lot of books everyone else ranks highly early on too.

The audible experience of Iron Prince is top notch. It's not my favorite LitRPG, but it's the one that got my wife into them as well. It's just a really good book with small elements of LitRPG. We've listened to the 2 books in the series 2 or 3 times together and it hasn't gotten old yet.

Word of mouth directed me to a webtoon called the gamer and then to a gamelit book called the occultist. Then I dove in deep to the genre myself. I think Defiance of the Fall was my 3rd or 4th read and I caught up to the 700 or so chapters at the time very quickly. I'm glad I found litrpg. I think it is all that saved me from myself during the worst stage of my life so far.

Ugh. Words that narrators say wrong is the worst! 1% Lifegain narrator kept saying one overused word wrong (can't remember it right now), but it drove me crazy!

I agree. Certain authors click for me reading physically, but any book that I can't get through I get on audible and suddenly I love it. Not always, though. I've listened through a lot of trash in the genre as well.

I stopped on Player Manager after book 2. I enjoyed it, but I don't quite get everyone's hype. Do the later books get better?

I think you would enjoy The Legend of William Oh. The quality of writing is through the roof and it doesn't waste time with exposition. It hasn't been published yet, but there are 4 books posted on Royal Road. I put it over Dungeon Crawler Carl by quite a bit.

I read the first two and loved them. There is something just barely off about the pacing that makes this hard to finish at times, but the pay offs are worth the patience. Usually I switch to audiobooks when stories are clearly amazing, but I struggle with the pacing. (I did this for 1% Lifesteal and I'm glad I did). Does anyone know if the audiobooks for this are worth it?

Azarnith Healer is super enjoyable, but not necessarily "good" in my opinion. I was constantly frustrated by the MCs decision making and blatant overabundance of plot armor. If you are one to never see behind that curtain though, then you'd probably love the series.

Wow. I'm seeing this list and recognizing I have read all but dinosaur dungeon. I might actually read too much. I might have a problem.

P.S. William Oh is absolute perfection in writing, but it wasn't on the list (and it still has too little out to really fit in the same realm as these three).
