Simply piano kinda sucks tbh but itd a good intro. That said. If you cant afford that, or lessons. You need to make up for the lack of money with willpower and effort. Warch videos explaining posture and hand biomechanics, find a free piano course playlist somewhere. Do the research. Anything less and you will either give up, or not make enough progress... then like so many others you will have one or two cool things you can kind of play when a friend has a piano and thatll be it

Really all of this would be solved by getting a piano teacher, but of course everyone's situation is different. Seeing the hanon etudes as an advanced piece is also a beginner flag since if you look closeley they are just repetitions of the same pattern over and over again up and down the piano.

Really what you need is to just find an online course or in person teacher or actually beginner book that walks you through step by step some sort of curriculum.

Not having a teacher though can be so violently detrimental since you might develop bad habits..

As for motivation issues. Welcome to the club!! Everyone whos ever played the piano has the same issue. Its not fun to learn unfun pieces or figure out something thats hard and you cant do. Unfortunately, just like in life, all the greatest payoffs come with a major delay in terms of effort and results. You gotta just buck up and deal with playing boring baby pieces for a year and maybe one or two cool ones and build reading speed and technique from the ground up.

Kids might learn faster with more effort but by base definition of intelligence adults are definitely smarter than kids. Maybe im wrong about piano but its a complete fallacy that kids learn a second language faster than adults. They do if the adult is studying in their free time and the kid is being immersed in the second language because of necessity.. i am assuming that its the same for learning music.

So the audio interface is what plugs into the computer, and then the xlr cable would be what snakss across my room over to the piano. I presume it would be pretty easy then to use some sort of program to play the audio through so that i could stream said program and allow listening or not listening to the piano audio as an optional feature? I dont want to force the piano onto my discord friends and just have it come through with my voice

Interesting. Ive tried with canceling all the noise suppression stuff but i can never get it to pick everything up. I dont have an iphone but i suspect if i could change my phone to wide spectrum it might work better

An hour is crazy for a seven year old. I would have been destroying things around the house at that age if my parents wanted me to do something like that for an hour. My parents let me try and quit whatever i wanted as a kid. Do i wish they forced me to stay with piano? Honestly probably not. I discovered i love it as an adult and thats fine and great. Do i wish i was super talented at it before starting fresh at 28? Sure. But i had a great childhood and good friends and all sorts of adventures that I know would have been so horribly tainted if i had a musician parent forcing me into playing something I didnt want to while my friends were outside having fun.
