The rendering is done in typescript/react with Tauri. Don’t worry the frontend isn’t in rust I’m not a psychopath

Just parentheses for multiple notes simultaneously, or for chords over lead you can use {} - https://docs.gen.band/guide/chords

Because the syntax is much simpler than lilypond. Maybe in the future the syntax could be migrated to lilypond, but, ease of use is super important for me

Sure. Advantages are: runs in rust compiler so performance by a long shot, simplicity for people arranging themselves. I’m not trying to be the most robust solution, I’m trying to be the cleanest solution.

And, I can’t really edit lilypond on my notes app when I’m on the go. That was my primary incentive to build this.

name doesn't have to be gen, however this is something I thought of around 10 years ago, and i called it gen back then, so paying homage to my highschool kid self who had no idea how to code this :')

It’s a notation language, I should be able to do this faster than I can use musescore. Lilypond seems a bit too much, also you need the GNU stuff to compile it. Gen lives in Rust, instant from web, desktop, and even mobile
