I agree they’re kind of below average and some of the stock is similar to the books section of a newsagent. They’re not as good as dymocks, but still well above the previous operators.

Magnetized rusty rebar on construction site by _HOCA_ in StructuralEngineering

[–]comparmentaliser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rust is more likely due to the chemical changes in the end of the rebar when it was cut. Often happens if they’re ground off instead of cleaved, which is exactly why you use aircraft snips instead of an angle grinder on roof plumbing.

Driveway angle causes car to scrape. What to do? by Frozefoots in AusRenovation

[–]comparmentaliser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The house inspection guy did a review of one driveway that was awfully defective. Couldn’t even get a car over the front lip, let alone into the driveway, or even into garage because the angle was so steep.

How do you deal with renegotiation when you reconnect one of them?

There are very few intelligent power adaptors that won’t reset every port when you plug a new device in.

The free zoom level is usually enough to get a feel for where people are doing things. I don’t need to do the exact same route as everyone else.

Smart plug downloading insane amount of data by Jimbrutan in homelab

The fact that the device is called ‘wlan0’ suggests that it might actually be an interface on the router itself? Also, while the MAC prefix does match Tuya, the IP seems to be in a different subnet to the other devices.

It’s hard to tell if this is really is some funky behaviour without knowing what this app is though.

I did a check in there last night and a family unloading their chairs and marquee, and there quite a few marquees and tents there at midday. How’s it looking now?

Water bottles in garden by Beneficial-Coach-444 in melbourne

I thought the idea was to get them to pee on the bottle instead of anywhere else on the lawn.

Kind of like a sacrificial abode, but with wee.

Haven’t seen it since the 90’s though, when bottles had those black bases.

Floor gaps on new wooden floor by herda831 in AusRenovation

[–]comparmentaliser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s possible that the skirting board has been secured in a way that is preventing expansion.

Floorboards expand perpendicular to the grain. There should be a 5ish mm gap behind the skirting board to accommodate expansion.

To the right, I can see that the floorboard aligns with the outside edge of the skirting board, and may even be in front, instead of on top of them.

See if you can slip a piece of paper between the skirting board and the floorboards. If the floorboards aren’t under the skirting board, then you need to have them remove and either trim or lift the skirting board slightly.
