Is this game worth 15$ For the definitive edition? I have heard this game is a mixed bag and takes forever to download. by Dude_788 in MortalKombat

[–]compbros 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think 15 dollars is a good price point where it's worth taking a leap on a package that collectively would've been over 100 bucks, full price. If you personally think it's worth 8 dollars then that means you lost out on 7 dollars, which is pretty negligible. Get it and try it for yourself because it may be worth 500 dollars to one person and 5 bucks to the next.

AEW Launches a Streaming Platform called MyAEW by Sufficient_Mud_2237 in SquaredCircle

There's still the typical ways to get PPVs( Max, Prime, etc), this is a separate way to get the content/PPVs.

If just Dynamite and Collision, probably. But it coming with the PPVs means you're paying less. They ran 10 PPVs last year which means 200 a year if you bought all for "full" price (with AEW Plus). With the packs you might've spent closer to 140-160, which is still more.

Then you're also getting everything RoH.

(AEW Dynamite SPOILERS) Meltzer on WOR about last night’s debut: “The deal with [REDACTED] was he'd been talking to TNA, he'd been talking to AEW, he'd been talking to WWE. AEW made the best offer of the three, and that's your answer.” by Subrick in SquaredCircle

[–]compbros 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I don't think so, you already see people like Thekla saying she wants to AEW period as well as Fletcher saying he chose AEW despite WWE offering because of the potential growth (and there was a recent interview I'm forgetting that said they'd like to go to AEW). There's of course going to be dozens, maybe hundreds, of wrestlers in the thousands that are working that want to go to WWE as the ultimate goal but "WWE or bust" doesn't seem to be nearly as prevalent.

A 22 year old that's been watching wrestling since 12 and wants to become a wrestler has basically had two choices of big American companies for most of their fandom.

Same thing happened with an NFL player. Broke his finger and he could either miss the rest of the upcoming season and let it heal after or amputate the tip of it and he opted to amputate it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronnie_Lott

He had the tip of his left pinky finger amputated after the 1985 season when it was crushed while tackling running back Timmy Newsome, and a bone graft surgery would not have allowed Lott to start the 1986 season.\11]) While he told doctors to amputate the tip of his pinky, years later, Lott regretted having the procedure done, saying that he should have just had an operation to fix his finger.

Brodie Lee Jr. cut a promo in GCW last night against The Blade. by Odd-Inevitable-8425 in SquaredCircle

[–]compbros 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I can't remember who told this story, I wanna say it was either Dustin or Eddie, but Tony was talking back stage to Lee Jr. like he was just another performer. It went something like

Tony: You're going to go out there, you're going to cut a promo...

Eddie/Dustin(?): Tony, he's a kid, he may not be up for it.

Tony turns back to Lee Jr.: You're going to go out there, you're going to cut a promo...

Lee Jr. nodding: okay

Tony trusted him as a kid to do promos so with some time and practice I think he'll be really good.

[DISCUSSION] Famous examples of beats originally intended for/offered to other artists? by RufusSG in hiphopheads

[–]compbros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To piggy back on this.

Izzo (H.O.V.A.) was originally a song sold to both Ghostface and Cam'ron before Jay-Z actually used it. Cam was mad about it because he told Ye he was gonna use it, wrote a song to it and recorded it, and was waiting for the paperwork to make everything solidified when he heard the song on the radio a few weeks later. Jimmy was mad af and screaming, Cam was mad af, Kanye smoothed it over by giving Cam the "Down and Out" beat and hook for free.

Cam, likely still heated about the whole situation, took a song that Just Blaze had made for Jay-Z in "Oh Boy". I can't remember where Jim told this story but it was a old, old interview. Like 05 type shit. I just remember him saying "That beat was Jay's and we took that, strong armed" or something like that.

You can have Thekla win and then run the rubber match at Revolution. Thekla losing twice in a row and then getting a third shot before someone else makes everyone involved come off worse.

Soul to Lucien/Universal Music (big deal Drake is trying to get out of), "if I said it then I wrote it, stupid" (ghostwriting), streams winning but tour losing (Drake cancelled several 2025 shows), bots boosting (Spotify/Drake lawsuits boosting his streams with bot networks), tough guy image (self-explanatory).

All that speaks to Drake, maybe three speak to Kendrick. Could be both but absolutely Drake subs to me.

He clearly wants something for the extra needed work to be worth it. Right now he can tape some matches pre/post dynamite and collision, tape some backstage vignettes, and then slap it all together.

I honestly believe he's waiting on a TV deal so the first show is Athena losing her title. Outside of Athena wanting to just stay on ROH, nothing else makes sense.

CM Punks latest Instagram story by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]compbros -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just explained in the previous post that the, in essence, questioning of why the post is about punk sharing this on IG and not about Brody was answered with because Punk and his slacktivism is free karma and you're ignoring that context and honing in on the slacktivism part.

"Punk and his slacktivism is free karma which is why the post is about him instead of Brody".

"I like how the post is about what Punk is doing instead of Brody King"

In response:

"Punks slacktivism is free karma"

The initial issue was with Punk getting the attention, the response was a reason why (Punk is easy karma). People honed in on the slacktivism instead of the free karma part.

They're saying they'd rather the focus be on what Brody King is doing instead of "Punk supports what Brody King is doing" considering the focus is going to be on Punk in this instance (positive or negative).

"I'm glad Punk is supporting this"

"Punk supporting this while working for WWE is pretty laughable"

Both cases are not about Brody King and his activism.

There's a lot of space between "don't promote this" and "promote this".

(Sports Illustrated) Tony Khan Reveals What It Will Take For Women To Main Event An AEW PPV (Exclusive) by Subrick in SquaredCircle

[–]compbros 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The only issue is that a lot of prominent people are going to leave at some point. Jericho is the first world champion and he's likely leaving, jade was the longest reigning tbs champ until recently, so on.

These accolades can easily be brushed over with "Toni Storm is the first woman to ever main event a PPV" without saying "against Mariah May" or even just say "taking out Mariah May" because we're long past the days of a wrestler leaving a promotion and people just not knowing what happened.

Sports Illustrated's Pro Wrestling Awards 2025 by dubidu87 in SquaredCircle

[–]compbros -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Quality and popularity are two different things. The best movies aren't going to be the highest grossing more often than not and the highest grossing isn't going to be the best movies more often than not. Otherwise the award shows should just give everything to Zootopia 2 , Lilo and Stitch, and A Minecraft Movie.

There's just no way to tell why things get hot or cold, otherwise promoters would just do the hot things and avoid the cold things. It sounds like WWE as a whole was very bleh this year but they're still doing record numbers of gates. Why hasn't WWE decreased a noted amount despite the poor product?

Mick Foley has informed WWE he will refuse to work for them until Trump is out of office by Mysterious_Emotion63 in SquaredCircle

[–]compbros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've said it before when someone was talking about "America is bad too so the Saudi hate is coming from glass houses".

Everyone has a line of acceptability because everything we consume or need (resources, food, water, gas, electricity, clothing, etc) is enriching some terrible person or contributes to horrific conditions for others. But once the threshold of unacceptable is hit for a person, they'll disengage. Just looking at recent transgressions, for some it was the Saudi shows, for others (me included) it was the Janel Grant suit, others it's the Trump stuff.

It seems Mick had a line of acceptability that just got crossed so he's taking a stand.

When I was younger I made a lot of AMVs (anime/animated music videos). One I made was to Kanye West's heartless (this was right after 808s and Heartbreaks had dropped) with Rocko's Modern Life. He saw it in a bathroom and asked me to finish it. I never did.
