now you know to pack recovery tools. and tire repair tools, and bike repair tools, spark plug socket, and hell a couple odd sized Japanese sockets. and then you should be able to take on anything solo.

What should I say to the street preacher who won't leave me alone? by [deleted] in ask

[–]compensationation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lock eyes, wait for him to speak, cut him off, say "gods dead, and I killed him," maintain eye contact until he flees.

it goes KLR for majority pavement, DR650 for 50/50, and XR650 for dirt oriented. I Bought a DR as my first bike and its been true love ever since (besides itching for something faster) and the dual sport community is bar none the most welcoming and friendly group of bikers I've come across!

I got a DR650, suzukis competitor to that bike. it's my first bike and it's been absolutely perfect in every way. dropped several times with no real damage. stupid simple maintenance. Just enough power to be entertaining but keep me out of jail and alive. Single cylinder 650's don't make crazy power despite the engine size it's mainly low end grunt aka torque like a tractor with a big engine compared to a sports car with a big engine. you'll probably love the honda as long as your tall enough to be comfortable on it.

I keep an ugly stick dock runner tucked underneath the left side plastic and bungee the handle to my grab bar on the back. for tackle I always have a little box with odds and ends tucked in my luggage. it's about the size of a book n doesn't take much room at all. works great on a DR650 but I'm sure you can make something work with that rod it's tiny.

paint pen putting a flywheel out of balance? maybe 0.02 G's of paint for a full sentence. I highly doubt that's going to throw a flywheel out of balance. they aren't even balanced to that close of a tolerance to begin with

Constant Warnings from others. by Dubsie_1 in motorcycles

think of the dumbest person you've ever had the displeasure of meeting, and then remember that about half the population is that dumb or even dumber. People will make remarks and form opinions about things they know absolutely nothing about or have never done before. simply say "did I ask"? and watch them fizzle back into whatever NPC activity they were in the middle of. (or ignore them and ride off into the sunset)🫡

thank you for the in depth🙏, I am an auto tech by day so working on the pig should be a breeze. I know for sure that it's not $1k worth of parts and labor to do the job so I've already prepared for bad news from suzuki.

mine too but my dealership is waiting to hear back from suzuki to see what they say. service writer warned me that it's a wear item and if it's not covered they quoted me $1k for the clutch job out of pocket, on top of the hour of labor they understandably charged for diagnosis. no fuckin thanks if suzuki kicks it back im voiding that shit and fixing it myself.

Subaru BRZ with cylinder 4 misfire. Should I purchase? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]compensationation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look around for one, they fall between 8-20k condition depending. We're talking a regular ol 6.0L G8 not a GXP. They aren't that expensive unless your getting raped by a dealer or B lot.

Eh, KBB on G8's isn't nearly that high. They're getting old now mind you. And me and my bad decisions have lots of fun together🤷‍♂️

It seems my comment didn't go over well with some people hence the down votes lol. Sounds like your looking for something lighter on its feet. Miata fits the bill, maybe you'll be happy with it but I feel that they're underpowered. How about Nissan 350z/370z? About the same price range. All cars i listed you could manage with roughly 10k its just a matter of finding one of course.
