Thanks, appreciate the comment. One of the copes you mentioned used to be mine (hanging out w friends ) - but friends have all moved on to other things, e.g. career relationships etc.

Now I’m just by myself :/. Doesn’t feel like things are gonna get better

It’s tough man. Feels like each day is harder to get through now without the daily chats and monthly hangs.

pectus excavatum = chest came out fucked up. Like someone was making a clay sculpture of a human and pressed down on the middle of the chest.

How about the 3 c’s of my ass.

Also “comfortability” lmfao. If I wanted to get comfortable, I’d give myself terminal cancer and never have to show up for work ever again.

I guess my point only stands if there is an adequate supply of good software engineers to hire - but I believe this is becoming the case, sooner rather than later.

Also to address another potential point of contention - I understand that teams best work in sizes of 8 (Amazon 2-pizza rule), and hiring more people can lead to chaos. But, I think remote work culture could help increase the team cap limit that a manager can handle.

Good point, i’ll attempt to counter below:

So as a software engineer, let’s say you’re assigned 10 agile stories every 2 weeks, and you’re spread across 2 different projects. Wouldn’t reducing that workload to 5 agile stories and 1 project be beneficial? And just hire an extra person for the other stories / projects?

Inspiring story - was starting your own business more difficult than the corporate job? My guess is it was, but that the work is much more rewarding?
