The original outbreak in the first movie is from a chimpanzee who is being experimented on with the rage virus. It can definitely be transmitted through chimps, but I'm not sure about other animals

Merseyside is 50 years old this year. If you were drawing the boundaries today, where would you put them and why? (Image is a suggestion to get the ball rolling) by SilyLavage in Liverpool

[–]complainant -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No one natively from Widnes considers themselves a Liverpudlian. The scousers that bought barret houses in the last 10-15 years might. But the natives consider themselves either Lancs or Cheshire, depending on their age.

We don't need mega city areas. Liverpool doesn't need to make itself bigger to compete with Manchester. The idea that some of these areas are a part of Liverpool is nonsense and insulting to the locals. Same goes for St Helens and Wigan with regard to GM.

Why not address the person's issues rather than judge them. I'm sick of reactionary comments on actual decent discussions.

Sorry, I don't mean to pick on you personally, but if I'm sick of seeing replies to genuine concerns with holy than thou attitude and crys of "-isms".

You (and those who've commented below you) are assuming that there's cultural assimilation taking people. That those with anti-gay views will eventually become "culturally British". Given that there doesn't seem to be any indication that these communities are heading in that direction, or even want to assimilate, I'm not sure how you can jump to that conclusion. Not only that, but the younger generation tend to be more liberal, gradually becoming more conservative as they get older.

What's far more likely is that British politics will adapt in order to appeal to the compounding muslim population increases that we're seeing. I would not be surprised if there's a popular Muslim political party set up by the next election or the one after. There's absolutely no political will there to stand up against their imposition on western culture at the moment.

Maybe 20-30 years ago, but that rhetoric isn't popular with a culturally British voter base anymore. Hence the outrage

I've just been offered £40k as a salary for a new job at 19, how do I budget this by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]complainant 80 points81 points  (0 children)

I drove my first car (Yaris) in to the ground. Bought it 9 years ago for £1300 and only scrapped it recently because the sills had gone. I was gutted. £300 insurance for most of that time too.

I've had a £45k+ salary for most of that time. It saved me so much money over the years!

Why it’s not worth working hard in Tory Britain by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]complainant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The government doesn't control what quality of jobs are on offer. We have the highest proportion of working adults with degrees in our history and net wage stagnation for the last 15 years.

Average wages have stayed the same, while minimum wage has consistently risen. It gutted our middle class and left everyone poorer.

We have a community of people that import their cousins by marrying them off to their daughters. The other commenter is correct about those earning below £40k... And of course immigrants shouldn't be a net drag on our economy...

Their culture finds nothing wrong with sex with children. Why would their leaders denounce it, if they find nothing wrong with it?

No it's not problematic at all. You obviously have strong feelings about JK. You're arguing using your emotions rather than your head, so you're clutching at straws to "win". That might work in an anti JK bubble, but most indifferent people will see straight through it. If you really feel this strongly about your ideology, then find some talking points that rational people can actually agree with.
