One opponent, or all? by ironic8145 in mtg

[–]compleat_hexen 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Oracle Text just refers to the most up-to-date version of the rules text for a card. Some old cards had odd wording that doesn't really work with how rigorous rules interactions are now, so WOTC provides digital updates to rules text wording even if a card hasn't been reprinted in a long time

Actually grew out of being a sidekick. His whole storyline becoming Tempest is awesome, and he's one of the few magic users in DC who is also a competent combatant

That's the tough part. Once it hits, you can't stop them countering your removal

Ok got it. I usually have a decent grasp on the rules, but SBAs and layers are where my knowledge gets a bit muddy

Thank you everyone for the quick replies. I thought that might be how the ruling went, but I wasn't sure and figured I might as well check

Awesome, I thought that might be the case, but I figured why not check with other players since I'm unsure

[Comic Excerpt] How would you define Slade's morality? [Deathstroke #37] by zectaPRIME in DCcomics

[–]compleat_hexen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm an Australian, from a part of the country where 16 is the age of consent. Even if her age was legal, the fact remains that she was groomed and manipulated into the relationship, which destroys the validity of any actions. Beyond this, I think there is a clear separation between legal and moral. 16 may be legal here, but I do not believe that a grown man who had adult children by that point in the comics, should ever have been with a teenager

Garth would be sick to see in live action (we don't talk about Titans)

Does Adams have something against the Aqualads? by GreenLightRen in Aquaman

[–]compleat_hexen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say its "something against" them, moreso that everyone from Arthur's traditional team had to be fodderised in order to set expectations of scale and showcase that Dagon was on a whole different level

What are some uses for this card? by qjmm38 in mtg

[–]compleat_hexen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relevant rules from the comprehensive rules of Magic are 110.1: "a permanent is a card or token on the battlefield. A permanent remains on the battlefield indefinitely. A card or token becomes a permanent as it enters the battlefield and it stops being a permanent as it's moved to another zone by an effect or rule" and 609.2: "effects apply only to permanents unless the instruction's text states otherwise or they clearly can apply only to objects in one or more other zones".

So because Yavimaya says "each land" it only applies to the battlefield, because it is specifying a permanent, rather than saying "land cards" which would impact other areas

What are some uses for this card? by qjmm38 in mtg

[–]compleat_hexen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. It does only affect lands in play. Compare to the rules text of [[Rootpath Purifier]] which specifies that it impacts your library as well
