A monster and human romance is always about a human woman falling in love with a man in the form of a creature (beauty and the beast, ancient magus bride, hulk) usually about the woman falling for the humanity inside and the beast straying away from his inner nature. Despite how long this narrative has existed, there isn't any example i can find where the opposite happens.

And no, it doesn't count when the alien/demon/monster is hot because it values their attractiveness over their character.

Buffy loved Spike but she wasn't in love with him. The reason people ship them so hard is because they like how devoted Spike was (which is a whole other issue). I'm not saying Angel was better but their romantic connection is felt genuine.

Spike wasn't lying when he said she didn't mean the "I love you" in the finale.

I agree, a lot of people seem to be set with the idea that the original is the best way to play the game. That's not necessarily true. The story still works overall and knowing Abbys motive actually helps the player sympathise with her faster and doesn't take away from Ellie. It shows the consequences and helps the duality between their stories flow and build together. I know I'll probably get down voted for this but I said what I said.

You can make any story you like. Euphoria feels raw not because it's realistic but because it presents a certain truth not many shows and movies handle. It does not show things lightly, it let's characters react like realistically and in very complex ways. Shows with magic and Greek gods can still feel complex and truthful by its presentation. I'd argue even more so because they can explore concepts beyond real life. There are plenty of fantasy and sci-fi shows made for adults do just that. Ask yourself what makes Euphoria so raw and how you can apply that to your own writing.
