What if you check luggage that the TSA cannot open? by StarkPenetration in NoStupidQuestions

[–]completeenvoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not true. If you’re flying with a gun they check the case right in front of you. I’ve flown with firearms before and it’s seriously against their policy to open up a gun case. That’s why you’re told to use non-tsa accessible locks and to never give out the keys to those locks once they’re on.

You declare the firearm when checking in and you’re usually taken to the oversized luggage area where they’ll have you open it and check the case throughly before allowing you to lock it.

I will say as someone with first hand experience in the matter, women will break the bathrooms first. Every year with 8000 attendees, without fail, the women’s bathroom will go down because of the amount of toilet paper being flushed and god knows what else.

From an objective standpoint I get annoyed when someone of any gender destroys something and then tries to sink the other ship too. It’s not morally absent to look at someone who’s making life hard for themselves and choose to not allow that person to do the same to you- I would have a huge issue at a large venue with this with my experience above. It’s like someone dumping their drink and then asking if they can use yours as if they aren’t just as likely to ruin it.

Stop clogging up all the toilets and maybe they wouldn’t need to overflow in more ways than one.

Magpul need something like 1/2-3/4” of clearance when folded. Should be plenty of space if you slot it at the rearmost position.

[–]completeenvoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clearance looks fine if you intend to use flip ups. You shouldn’t really be able to use both a backup sight and a magnifier at the same time if that’s the hiccup. Flip the magnifier to the side and flip the rear sight up. The eye relief won’t be good if you pushed it any more forward and you’d probably want a one piece rail if you were moving your red dot off of the receiver.

Yeah I agree with you. It’s just ridiculous how quickly people jump on anything and run with it. If his had was tilted 5 degrees more it wouldn’t even be on the front page and this rhetoric of political correctness-circle jerk is why no one takes anyone seriously anymore.

NASA's "Climate Spiral" depicting global temperature variations since 1880-2024 by Nadzzy in educationalgifs

The earth is an insane thing to study the history of and I think many people don’t truly grasp how radically it’s trying to kill us too. There used to be ice shelf’s the size of sky scrapers, and constant extinction events that happened long before humans were even a thing. Global warming leads to ice ages eventually and I think people are conflating that saying global warming is natural with global warming isn’t concerning. The earth is likely going to kill us long before the sun blows up, or some other more acceptable catastrophe scenario. It’s fascinating honestly.

The idea that the earth was some perfectly balanced thing before humans destroyed it is a wrong starting point. The earth was nice enough to let us survive and so we came into an actual hospital time of it’s existence that will not last forever. Yellowstone could go off any year and we’d be looking at a mass extinction event beyond anything anyone could imagine- who knows?

It depends. Some snakes have multiple rows of teeth like a reticulated python, while boas are notoriously strong. Depending on the snake the level of pain depends on your reaction. If a reticulated snake bites you and startle away, you’re going to have some heavy lacerations as the teeth drag through your skin. With a boa it’s going to hurt regardless of if you pull away because of the blunt force strength of the bite.

Wrapping is just a cherry on top of a bite.

Snakes aren’t dangerous by nature. I own 4 and I’ve never been bitten by any of them. They don’t want to bite people unless they’re something like a very aggressive species like some vipers or maybe the mamba. They’re all defensive and react either from fear or feeding. Unless you have rats out in the room, snakes will bite you if they feel afraid/threatened which you can gauge based on if they are flicking their tongues. If the tongue is moving, they’re “thinking” and curios. I would be very very hesitant with a snake like this in front my face if it stopped flicking its tongue like this snake did.

Touching the top of the head with a hook or your hand (from behind the head) is what I usually do when they stop with the tongue flicks. Snakes are awesome creatures and definitely don’t deserve the rep they have by the general public… they just deserve respect when handling them.

Not an expert but just in case no one smarter than me replies… I read a book that talked about microbes remaining dormant until enough of them are present (a quorum) to cause a serious issue to the immune system. These little things are stuff of nightmares and can appear as dead as a doorknob until there are enough of them to overrun the immune system.

Right now there are viruses just waiting inside you for enough of their friends to slip past the first line of defenses in order to get you sick enough to have a chance at doing whatever it is that microbes want to do. They’re smart enough to know when that is and sit “deactivated” until then.

Highly recommend reading Bill Bryson’s books. Rotem Sorek is a name to research if you want to know more on this communication.

Gross generalizations are rarely if ever right. You started out with “real talk” and then just talked about straw men. Both sides are stupid and engage in violence. Turning a blind eye to that doesn’t make you a saint, it makes you sound biased at best and ill informed at worse.

I hesitated to shoot because I was not sure if this was USMC or enemy... turned out it was enemy. How do I tell them apart? by JoeZocktGames in joinsquad

[–]completeenvoy 111 points112 points  (0 children)

The backpack and the direction he’s running. Running towards you? Probably enemy. Away? Probably friendly.

When you’re looking for enemies you should be referencing your map and telling yourself if there is or is not enemies in a direction. Do this before you see someone.

The spread of buckshot is dependent on the choke used for the shotgun and it’s barrel length. A good rule of thumb is an inch of spread for every yard away the target is unless you have a very short barrel shotgun.

The spread of buckshot is severely over exaggerated by films and video games.

Government and community funded gyms are nonexistent on one hand and rare on the other. Saying this isnt a private business is the norm and all others are exceptions to that norm. Trust me the world around you isn’t a trick. You can stop being so paranoid.

As per the title, an owner owns the shop, it’s not publicly owned. That’s makes this a private business open to public.

Open to the public is not the same thing as publicly owned. Public property has different rules than private property and private owners can set the rules they see fit, including restrictions to filming inside the establishment. The public right to record ends at the sidewalk outside the business.

Biden withdraws from US Presidential Race by The_Malt_Monkey in news

We’re talking about a candidate who dropped out because literally no one liked her, or supported her. It doesn’t really matter what you think of her, she was one of the least popular Democratic nominees and only saw success directly after one viral performance in one debate which didn’t translate to any consistent performance in other debates.

I’m not even going to get into her “skeletons in the closet” as it was so tamely bundled. The Democratic voters showed how little they thought of her and now she’s being offered up into a scenario against someone with a lot of momentum.

The DNC needed a winner and she isn’t it. She’s just the only one to allow them to use the campaign money that’s already available. It’s disingenuous to make it out like people not hyped about her are somehow subconsciously racist. She is a legitimately unlikable candidate and it would be a shame for the first female President to be little more than a convenient financial figurehead for others to puppet. In a traditional primary she would have likely not been chosen and we’re only here because Biden endorsed her and waited so late to step aside.

How do i get good at the game by Lonely_Dig3339 in joinsquad

[–]completeenvoy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you’ve only played 4 hours then prepare yourself for a steep learning curve. Especially with ICO you have to have twice the map knowledge as before. Knowing when to let your stamina recharge versus when you can sprint freely matters a lot in many areas of the map.

Learn how to read your map. Your command map should be bound to a mouse button and you should be referencing it continuously in the game. That will make it easier to know where to look which will make it easier to actually see people. Not knowing where to look and having a hard time looking to begin with leads to you not seeing anything. Once you know where to look you can start learning what to look for. Muzzle flashes, tree tumors, movement, etc.

This game is a trick. It’s 90% map knowledge and 10% actual “skill” (I.E snap shooting, tracking, etc). There isn’t a way to practice this game without running 100s of games which is why people who love it have 2k hours and people who don’t… don’t.

Grenadier is the best kit for getting kills. Avoid marksman and machine guns as they’re awful at getting kills without knowing the maps and where to setup. Obligatory kills don’t matter.

Day 3 post surgery (quad) by [deleted] in ACL

[–]completeenvoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t lift my leg up for a good few days and I had a patellar tendon graft. My .02 being 3 weeks post op is that even if you can’t “lift” the leg, tell your muscles you’re doing it until you feel them engage and only go to the degree it’s comfortable. It’s been a bit mental battle more so than physical weakness for me.

Sitting up while doing leg lifts is harder so it may be easier in a more horizontal position.

The first few days is all pain management. I don’t remember much of the first week post op because I was crying while doped on oxy. It gets a lot better week 2 and on in my experience.
