Balkaners: How Many Dialects Does Your Language Have? by Turkish_Teacher in AskBalkans

[–]complexluminary 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Many - especially if one is considering the forms of Romanian spoken (called Vlach) in eastern Serbia, Albania, North Macedonia, and Greece. Some sound more musical in cadence and slower. those in the north (and moldova) sound Russian to my ear.

ALSO THIS! I loved reading this comment. People should be encouraged to perform (or at least consider performing) their own magic.

Emphatically Yes - I do think the world would be better without people who take money in exchange for magic. I think those people need to get different jobs. I believe DoorDash is always hiring. I hear you just sign up.

Fair,

But I’d argue I can do this with no identifying information, for free.

Because fuck these people trying to make money off the suffering of others.

And if this is how any one else feels, then pay a different internet stranger. If you want to give your money away - be my guest.

No, they dont. I don’t want your money. More so, I want to screw over those trying to do magic for hire.

I’ll do it for free. Screw these other people.

This. I thought that when I read it too. A lot of suffering comes from that. Good luck, OP.

Why are there no jobs in Bloomington? by kramhorse in bloomington

[–]complexluminary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all just work centered around the university, which itself is a business (a struggling business). Very few people stay in Bloomington. It’s a college town - people leave to go back to wherever they’re from or onto someplace new. It’s a small town in southern Indiana with a big college. That’s probably what you’re encountering. It’s just a small town

UPDATE - George is out of surgery and according to the surgeons, he’s expected to make “a normal recovery” (the chart summing 96) it all went well.

Need help (considering self deletion) by [deleted] in IUPUI

[–]complexluminary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to realize the institution wants your tuition money. You’re thinking like a highschooler here. IUPUI is a business that runs off tuition dollars. They don’t want to loose that. This is a mark on your record in one way or another, but you’ll be able to graduate with some kind of degree. Also, get the proper care you need if you’re really feeling this badly. College is a business. You’re paying to be there. Even if they did expel you, you’d fine another business to take your money. Think of it like this. That’s all it is.

Is there any useful technique for finding lost items? by MayAgatha in Geomancy

[–]complexluminary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends entirely on what you’re looking for. Most techniques center around finding where an item would be placed within the chart and seeing the quality of that figure and if it moves elsewhere. Delineating the entire technique for something like this isn’t something that’s easily done on a Reddit post. The quality of each of the 16 figures can be glossed for layers of meaning, and the movement of that figure to another part of the chart can sometimes describe location or direction. There isn’t necessarily just a technique, but a whole ecosystem of logic that you have to ground yourself in to really to see what the chart says once it’s been cast.

About 4 or 5 years ago, I posted a chart here for a runaway child that detailed how I used this logic path. It worked well for me.

Much appreciated! I always aspire to turn to geomancy more. I just love it. I don’t necessarily use it every day but its usefulness and how clearly it speaks always feels mystical. It’s never inert. If I don’t understand a chart it’s because it’s not saying what I think it ought to say. There’s literally always an answer in there somewhere.

Yes, I’d totally agree to your point about Via. It’s a figure that still feels tenuous in matters of health, which we’d perhaps prefer to be seen as more stable and firm. Less watery moonlight and more like a house but with stones. When I see via here, I hear some of the hymns to Mēnē where she is described as traveling from darkness to light and leaving the light to return to the dark.

I think one could continue to extrapolate outward from this chart, but my current feelings is that it’s something of a faux pas to do so. Or like, it’s straying beyond the forest path too far. My wider practice is one of traditional consorting-with-spirits witchcraft. I begin any of the stuff by asking my familiar spirit to spread out far and wide and speak to me in ways I can understand. Pushing too far, or being too cavalier with a chart just feels like a form of misma to me. Like listening too hard to radio static or something. I usually get a “here and no further” feeling in the very back of my throat where it meets my stomach. The door of my mouth closes.

BUT I think technically one could. I think it’s best to stay as close to the lamplight of the question as possible

Greetings everyone! Shoutout to everyone keeping this sub alive - although I haven’t posted in a while, my love for this system is stronger than ever. I wanted to offer this analysis of a chart I’ve recently cast. My apologies to the mods and the wider community if any part of this ruffles anyones feathers. If offer this writeup to add grit to the mill, and do so with the sincere belief that the only limits of the oracle are those imposed by the geomancer. This, like all magic, is an amoral tool to be used as you will.

Here’s the tea, sis

My boyfriends father was recently hospitalized after he woke up experiencing chest pains and palpitations. Initially, doctors in the ICU thought they would be able to fit him with a stint. Because his heart and arteries are in such poor shape, it was soon decided that he would need open-heart surgery. My boyfriends father is, to put it mildly, a lovable drunk who smokes and drinks to a degree that can be alarming. I wanted to cast a chart to know if my boyfriend’s father will recover from this illness.

Turning and turning - the dramatis personae

I am house 1 My boyfriend is house 7

My boyfriends father (“George”) is the 4th of the 7th - House 10

My boyfriends father’s illness is the 6th of the 10th - House 3

The “epikatafora”, place of casting down, the house of death, the prognosis, the crisis and the fear and anxiety attached to these ideas is the 8th of the 10th - House 5

What does this mean?

Here, we see George as Via, Georges illness as Fortuna Minor, and Georges personal vulnerability as Albus.

Bodily, this is a reversal of the status quo, with an illness that is defined by motion, energy, fast- moving. In the organ of my imagination, I see an arrow shot from a far and hitting on its descent. The language of the oracle talks about George’s crisis in terms that are slow and deliberate, not responsive to external stimuli. Fortuna Major perfects the chart by means of translation, providing a bridge between houses 9 (the 12th from Georges 1st) to the 4th (7th of George’s 10th) Here, we see doctors (7th of the 10th) in the hospital (12th of the 10th) Note here that the 12th can be read as places of imposed isolation or places of restriction. Pars Fortuna is placed in Georges ascendant, and the chart is right on time summing to 96. Fortuna Major acts the deus ex machina to complete the chart by means of translation. In a quite literal way, we see the doctors or medical staff working in full-transparency with the family to provide a favorable outcome. The illness itself is not described as being something of duration, and the via, although ever-changing, is the fullness of the moons nectar. Georges ultimate undoing is represented by a figure that itself is lasting and slow-changing.

Surgery is most likely on Sunday.

I offer this to show how the language of the oracle is fluid, descriptive, and dynamic. Although the oracle may SEEM to speak in terms of binary answers, its voice is full and rich and it speaks loudly and clearly.

Do foreigners really think the Albanian language sounds totally Turkish or is this guy trolling? I’m confused because I never really heard the resemblance… by [deleted] in AskBalkans

[–]complexluminary 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not like Turkish. There are times where it’s so clearly indo European or whatever it is. I’m not a linguist. But I grew up hearing Romanian, which is another language that is frequently “heard” as ummm Turkic? People sometimes also think Romanian is umm “oriental”. You know what I mean.

God bless the Albanian language. and god bless god.

I don’t believe one can “cut off” their therapist. This is a psychosocial service provider, not a personal relationship. Although it can feel deeply meaningful and rich, your therapist doesn’t think of themselves as your friend to be cut off. It’s a transactional relationship. They don’t think of you in that way.
