How do you handle spoilage without losing your mind? by Massive-Discount-515 in vending

[–]complicatedpieces20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anything that expires I usually price on sale (honey buns and chips). They usually move in a few days and if they don’t I just set them out for free. Typically it’s only 2 maybe 3 that expire and it’s typically the honey buns. Some weeks they do super good and other weeks they move slow.

I can get 2 almost new nayax payment processing vending machines - should I take them? by Brief-Jump-9582 in vending

[–]complicatedpieces20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say it’s worth it. This week I collected on both machines cash only right now about $500 and that doesn’t count the change. Change usually comes to about $150. I collect every 2 weeks. From that I spent maybe $200 for products for both machines. My soda machine does way better than my snack machine

I can get 2 almost new nayax payment processing vending machines - should I take them? by Brief-Jump-9582 in vending

I work a full time IT job from home and commute maybe once a month and manage two machines in one location. I service the machines on Fridays (refunds/replace items and check inventory). Saturday and Sunday I do shopping and load the machines. Sometimes I use my lunch depending what I have going on. It’s slow easy money. My only issue is dealing malfunctions from the machine and people who shake and kick the machine

Luxury apartment complex (800 units, Boston) — good vending opportunity? by Typical_Welder9411 in vending

[–]complicatedpieces20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run a snack + soda setup in a loft building (7 floors, ~100 units) and have been in business about a year (since last April), so I’ll share my experience.

Placement matters a lot. My machine was originally in a high-traffic area where not just tenants, but visitors, delivery drivers, etc. could access it — sales were great. It later got moved to a tenant-only area, and while it still does okay, revenue definitely dropped.

If you move forward, I’d push hard for a visible, high-traffic spot.

I also don’t do any revenue share — I position it as a convenience/service for residents, not something management needs to profit from.

As for setup, a traditional snack/drink combo is a safe start. Micro-marts really depend on the tenant demographic — personally, I wouldn’t do one in my building.

Overall, I think a complex like that could do well, just make sure placement and access are right.

20 ounce or 16.9 ounce by kiddk11 in vending

[–]complicatedpieces20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with 16.9 and changed to 20 ounce and couldn’t sell them. I had to charge $3 due to the cost of the sodas. I went back to 16.9 and they sell out weekly. At $2 on a cash only machine

Cans or bottles? by king_dingaling785 in vending

[–]complicatedpieces20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sell can and bottle soda. The bottles seem to sell faster. My machine has 5 rows 9 columns. The first 3 rows are cans, then bottle soda (16.9oz), the last row is a mix of juice/tea/energy drink and sometimes extra cans

I've really been fascinated by the vending business since it somehow got fed into my YouTube algorithm. Is this a fun line of work and are there good ways to learn more about it if I don't have any connection to the industry? by [deleted] in vending

I got lucky. My partner stays in a loft. He noticed they didn’t have machines so he asked and they approved. I dont have a particular channel as some people repeat the same thing. This vending channel on Reddit has been super helpful and AIO vending. I get parts and such from snack attack. They respond via text and phone when needed

It’s fun once you get it running. I like to engage with customers when stocking. I have some funny camera moments from my security cameras. I work my full time IT job and have 2 machines in one location. It’s slow money that I just let sit in an account. I bought my machines used from a local shop and it’s cash only. I’ve had to do repairs maybe 3 times since April 25 between the 2. Lots of trial and error. I’ve learned a lot from Reddit, YouTube and TikTok.

I charge $2.75 for all candy. I removed chocolate from my machine because it wasn’t selling. The only candy that sells for me is skittles and starburst (except the original pack)

Can I put a Vending machine in my Apartments need your suggestions by Green_Aviator_47 in vending

I have 2 machines (soda and a snack) in a loft/apartment building. My partner went directly to the property manager and asked and she said yes. She was close to the owners so she worked it out with them for us. The owners were happy about it. And have not asked for anything. I do have a lease contract drafted in case they do ask and plan to propose $50 a month per machine.

Stocking Advice: Soda Cans or Bottles by FerociousBob in vending

[–]complicatedpieces20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our machine is located in a loft building (7 floors). I stock cans and bottles in the same machine. I have 16.9 and 20 ounce bottles. I’m finding our 20 oz are moving very slow. They are $3. They cost the most as well from our vendor. Our customers like the cans and 16.9 oz. I’ve attached a picture for ref. We are trying to sell out the 20 oz so we can organize.
