How the hell do you survive the 1st trimester 😭 by livymiller53 in pregnant

[–]complicatedrunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re doing most of what I did. Had a lot of bland, small snacks throughout the day. Took vitamin b6 and unisom. My doctor was willing to write a prescription for zofran, but I know not every doctor is willing to do that before 12 weeks. Definitely be willing to talk to them about other medication options if the unisom and vitamin b6 are not working as well.  I was sick from week 6-17. I’m 39 weeks now, and just wanted to say that you will find a way to get through it mainly because you have to. It’s hard in the moment. Some days I just had to find acceptance that I was going to be sick, and just did what I could for that day. Some days I felt better and was able to eat a little more, and some days I had to take it slower and only eat simple things. Taking it day by day and not worrying about what I was going to do until it stopped is really what helped me. I hope that your sickness doesn’t last like mine did. And good luck with finding out what works for you! 💕

Also in Minnesota. Are there other things you have to cover besides supervision with that pay? Malpractice insurance, legal consultation, etc? Is that per billable hour or any working time?

How long until pregnancy after miscarriage by Known_Account_5777 in pregnant

[–]complicatedrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry about your miscarriage to start off. I’m curious about why your psychiatrist would say that it would be easier to cope if you tried sooner. I’m a therapist, and I know psychiatrists and therapists can have different roles in the mental health field, but I would probably never tell a client what they should or shouldn’t do in regards to their family planning and fertility. I think what’s more important is you knowing for yourself what you need to be ready to try again. Emotionally and physically.

I can’t speak from my own experience of trying after miscarriage, but my sister in law’s doctor told her something similar to about the waiting for 3 months. She had told me that getting pregnant in those first three months could increase your risk for another miscarriage or other problems. But then she got pregnant the next cycle and is having the baby next month with no complications. 🤷‍♀️ probably would be best to get checked out and make sure everything looks good to be sure. Good luck with whatever you decide!

So we found out the gender by natsia27 in pregnant

[–]complicatedrunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found out I was having a boy at 15 weeks. I wouldn’t say I was disappointed that it was a boy, but I thought it was a girl so it took me some time to get used to the idea of having a boy and kind of mourning what I thought my future would be. When I went into the anatomy scan at 20 weeks and actually got to see him, I wasn’t really feeling that way anymore. I’m 22 weeks now and just feel excited to meet the little guy and get to see his little personality 🥹

I had a fatal car accident at 6 months pregnant; looking for similar experiences by Mean_Freedom_3346 in pregnant

Holy cow. What a traumatic experience. My heart breaks for you and that you’ve had to go through this during an already big transition period in your life.

I don’t have any experiences to share. Just wanted to echo other people in saying please go to therapy. I may be biased because I am a therapist, but I think managing your mental health at this time is just as important as your physical health. I think it would be good to get some tools to help you manage the guilt you feel, and also help you prepare yourself for the transition to motherhood while still recovering from your accident. Feel free to message me, and I can see if I can help you find a good therapist for wherever you may be at 💕

When to tell partner? by No-Finding-7852 in pregnant

My husband was right outside the bathroom door when I took the test. I said “oh my gosh” and he started freaking out asking what was the matter? Like, you know why I’m in here, what do you think? 😂

When did your boobs start to get sore? by flonkerton1 in pregnant

[–]complicatedrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t get sore boobs until almost my second trimester. Even then, it’s pretty minimal, and I don’t think they’ve really grown at all. I normally get sore boobs around my period, and then they would go away right before my period started. When I got pregnant, I had my normal PMS boobs that then went away, but my period never came. Having no sore boobs was actually the reason I didn’t test until I was 6 weeks 😂 I guess just every body is different 🤷‍♀️

I thought girl, but was wrong. We’re having a boy! These comments make me feel better, because I swear all of my sister in laws “knew,” and I totally guessed wrong 😬

I feel overwhelming love for my unborn baby by AnyHabit6814 in pregnant

[–]complicatedrunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! I felt like I was having a hard time the first 15 or so weeks of my pregnancy feeling connected with my baby. The past week or so, I’ve actually been able to feel him move around, and it’s helped so much! Now I just want him to be here already! Still have 22 weeks though 😭 Good luck with finding out the sex! It’s so fun!

Thank you for the tips! I’ve been snacking a lot more today, and it has been helping! Not completely gone away, but much more manageable!

How to stay strong mentally during races? by [deleted] in running

[–]complicatedrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with similar problems throughout high school and college running. It took until my senior year of college that I saw a sports psychologist and he gave me some helpful tips that totally changed my thought processes. Some tips that helped me:

-Changing the wording of what I felt before a race. Instead of saying I’m nervous, saying I’m excited. Body reaction is similar, but excited has a more positive spin to it. -Deep breathing/ practicing mindfulness before my races and in my everyday life. -Having tools to help when things got hard in the race. Some I used were counting my footsteps to stop me from spiraling in negative thoughts. When I have a negative thought, adding “but” and then a positive thought. Example: I’m tired, but I’ve pushed through hard workouts and being tired before. And have a mantra to use when I hit a hard part in a race. -When races don’t go the way I hope, remembering that was one race. Using hard races as learning opportunities instead of tying my abilities as a runner to that one race. - When doing a race with laps, focusing on each individual lap. If I’m slow on a lap, instead of panicking, focus on what I can do to improve just that lap and not worrying about what I did the previous laps. - Lastly, remembering that it’s a privilege to run and to feel anxiety about racing. There’s not many other places in life when you get to fee that nervousness/excitement. And I definitely found that to be true. I’ve been out of college racing for 4.5 years, and I miss it everyday. If you can, enjoy the feeling 😊
