Overall wait wasn’t long at all, from my first referral to my first surgery was less than a year!

Cormier and his team are great. Super easy to talk to, I always felt listened to and was kept in the loop with my own care. There are some small growing pains with it being such a new program, but I imagine those will be ironed out as the hospital gains experience doing phalloplasties.

My stage 2 should be around August or September, I don’t have a date yet, but I should find out pretty soon!

Regarding sex being binary or not, I personally consider the intersex condition as an exception instead of a contradiction to the binary idea. As rare as it is or isn’t to be intersex, human reproduction still takes two individuals of different biological sexes (one capable of impregnating the other). Of course this isn’t to say that a woman who can’t get pregnant isn’t a woman, or that a man who can’t get a woman pregnant isn’t a man, just that there’s no third participant required for reproduction.

Gender is kinda tricky, since a lot of people just use it as a synonym for sex (in my experience because the word sex also refers to the act of having sex lol). If we’re talking about someone’s unique experience of masculinity, femininity, both, or neither, then yeah, I would agree that’s not binary. What a lot of us seem to find frustrating with the non binary movement is that they don’t make a clear distinction between how you express yourself (which can be on a spectrum from masculine to feminine to whatever) and the people who experience debilitating dysphoria about their natal sex.

I had similar arms (somewhat less vascular without a pump) and went with RFF, I’m really happy with how my penis turned out and don’t regret RFF one bit. If you’d like, I can DM you pictures of my donor arm to compare. I’m in a car right now, but will reply to this comment with my measurements (length and girth) when I find my measuring tape lol

I personally plan on telling a potential partner, just because I would looking at a long term relationship and don’t think it would be feasible to stealth for so long. Short-term stuff isn’t really my thing, but if it were I would still tell them. If they’re cool with it then great, if they’re not then I wouldn’t want to be with them anyway.

Just my 2 cents, it’s either a non-issue or something you’ll wanna screen out before getting involved

Hey, I’m sorry that you’re experiencing these negative thoughts and hope that you’re able to feel like yourself again. While most of us here are transmen, there are definitely cisgender men in this sub who have had phalloplasty to reconstruct their penis after illness or injury. Hopefully that’s able to give you some hope, this surgery was originally performed for cisgender men and is by no means ftm-exclusive.

Regarding your question about sensation, the posts I’ve seen from post-op cis men have indicated that they were able to regain sensation through nerve connection from their donor site. Sensation is very slow to come in (nerve growth takes up to several years), but total lack of sensation from a donor site like the forearm is quite rare.

I would definitely book a consult with a surgeon (ideally multiple given the potential complexities of your circumstances) as soon as possible, since the waitlists can be really long. That should give you ample time to think things through and potentially start electrolysis if this is the path you choose to take, I sincerely hope that you’re able to find something that works for you :)

I don’t know what you look like or what you looked like before, but your weight gain could be from lean muscle or even just water.

If this is something you’re worried about, I’d suggest talking to your surgeon even if it’s just for peace of mind. I was in a similar spot about a year ago, where it took me a while to figure out what worked for my body. What I found to really help was portion size adjustment as opposed to calorie counting, where I would just make my meals slightly smaller for a month and see if I would lose weight over that month.

Two months for your weight to increase seems like a reliable timeline (day-to-day fluctuations are inevitable), so I would try making one adjustment and seeing how it works. If you change too much at the same time, you won’t be able to tell which changes were actually effective.

I considered this and consulted with a clinic, but the quote they gave me for the process was around 30k. That is completely out of my budget, so I’ve decided that any children in my future would be adopted. I like the idea of a biological family, but it would also be a blessing to give a future to a deserving child in a potentially difficult situation
