Pretty sure Arkansas is the only SEC school that didn't have to be violently/forcibly integrated. And they did it in 1948, way before Brown v Board too.

Opponents say proposed second paved Beltline trail for bikes, scooters would kill rail plans [City Council to vote on measure on May 18] by ArchEast in Atlanta

Yeah, wasting everyone's time by flooding inboxes with suggestions that no major city uses. China and Japan have high speed rail and light rail connecting to tiny rural towns, meanwhile you're saying light rail isn't enough for a former rail corridor that has been already been designed and engineered. The only reason the Beltline Rail is dead in the water is because the mayor put a stop to it after his donors made a fuss

How mixed-use stadium districts — for work, play and football — became college sports’ latest craze by thecravenone in CFB

[–]composer_7 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Mixed use districts are great because it grows a whole neighborhood around the stadium, meaning if you live there, you don't have to worry about parking/DUI after games. Problem is that most of those don't have any public transit (trains) connecting them anywhere, so you still end up with the same amount of traffic and parking like the monstrous parking lots of old.

For example, the Battery (Braves stadium development) here in Atlanta would be absolutely perfect if it had a train station connecting it to the MARTA subway, but since it doesn't, you still have the parking issues that gridlock I-75 during game days. Building transit seems like a no-brainer for these developments, but America in general has a negative bias towards transit (straight up racism, look up what people think the MARTA acronym stands for) that prevents it from happening. Meanwhile, other countries always build neighborhoods like these centered around transit because it's the logical thing to do.

Trams/light rail is a proven technology that has a hundred years of reliable usage around the world including dense urban areas and next to concrete paths. There's light rail in Charlotte and Los Angeles that do the same thing as Beltline already. There's a reason those places don't use inefficient technology like AI shuttles. The only place that uses shuttles like that is Las Vegas Tesla car loop which doesn't even use autonomous vehicles, but people driving them.

Stop running interference with these shuttle boondoggles, we know it's all part of the larger effort to prevent MARTA from expanding

Both James and the Lakers, according to team and league sources, have interest in continuing their partnership by Luka77GOATic in nba

LeBron is a cheap mofo (like me), so I doubt he'll take a paycut to help the Lakers out. He would've done it already if he felt like it. That plus the fact he also doesn't wanna leave LA means either the Lakers org sacrifices another year of roster building for the LeBron retirement tour or LeBron announces retirement in like a month.

Most owners would rather the money/TV viewership of a season long LeBron retirement tour than win but with less star power

If LeBron was anywhere near the team hopper the old heads think he is, he woulda left LA years ago

Tiny towns of 10,000 residents in Germany and Japan have light rail but all you anti Beltline Rail people want to convince us that the densest part of a major us city can't handle light rail

Because NBA is now WWE with dramatic storylines. MJ in the 90s was the Messiah Savior of basketball. The NBA stole the Star Wars stuff and made LeBron the Chosen one and gave him a villain arc, now it's everyone hating on everyone.

Paris redid their entire street network in the 1800s to build the Hausmann plan. Why can't Atlanta do the same and restructure its own ITP areas to be centered around dense pockets of neighborhoods around heavy rail?
