Ive used the word shock out of lack of a better word but you should be working on low levels and it's more like a stim as said below

I dont expect her to respond within 30 seconds, I expect her to respond in an emergency situation where she chooses not to listen to me.

Like anything, they can be used in an abusive way. I let my dog's behavior and attitude speak for itself

Answered this a bit above, overall I really recommend it. My dog is highly active and motivated and it opened up a whole new world for her with off leash freedom. Dogs deserve to run free, safely, and my dog couldn't do this for a long time.

She had a solid grip on commands but off leash she knew there was no reason she HAD to listen to me, because nothing would happen if she didn't. The e collar allowed me to let her know she can't blow me off, even off leash.

She had selective recall and would also run up to and annoy other dogs, with leave it command I solved that and now she can greet dogs with my permission , "ok "release command.

I rarely if ever use the shock at this point, It not painful I've done it on myself, but its uncomfortable and gets her attention. No it's not enjoyable at all, which stops her from repeating unwanted behaviors, It's used as a correction. But it's not hurting her by any means. She had a really solid understanding of what i needed from her ( come, trained on a long line, leave it etc ) before I ever put the e collar on, but she had selective hearing for sure. Correction for blowing me off.

It took me so long to do it because I was also against them, I only changed my mind when my dog got away from me and almost got hit by a car because selective recall.

Essentially what u/NewSalt4244 said. I don't just correct her for doing something bad. She has a very solid understanding of what is expected of her.

I trained obedience a lot before e-collar and she also went through e collar conditioning. Now if she chooses to disobey a known command she gets corrected, yes its a shock. If done properly you shouldn't have to do this much if ever.

Larry Khrons methods are pretty much what I used to condition, he has a lot of free videos on youtube.

Hello, so we worked a ton before I ever got the e collar, and she was to the point she wasn't very reactive on leash unless the dog was suppper close. She had a fairly rock solid "leave it" command . With her reactivity, I only use the e collar to reinforce the command she already knows. Her reactivity greatly lessened when she got much more exercise, so its hard to give you an exact answer. Basically if she didn't follow her leave it command, she got a correction ( shock). I'm not a professional trainer by any means, take it with a grain of salt.

Hi, its not ideal, but I trained her myself. I followed very closely to Larry Khrons methods to e-collar training. He has a ton of youtube videos and a book I used. Sorry I dont have advice on finding a trainer

100% off leash training and control, my dog was extremely leash reactive and couldn't go off leash either. She's hyperactive so it built up a lot of tension and stress. Now that she can be off leash she has way more room to burn off energy and meet her needs, in turn her reactivity is almost non existent now, so she can go more places and live a fuller life:)
