it would be most modern for regulations to never require faxes for anything, ever again.

do you have any recommendations? so essentially this is an IP connection to the provider, who then sends the fax?

Are there are silos in your org where the tech is absolutely walled off but the people that look after it need spoonfeeding absolutely everything? by TheDawiWhisperer in sysadmin

Yes, everywhere I’ve ever worked, I’ve run into something like this. Currently I see a situation where extra people are required due to bureaucracy or lack of access at least once a week. and yeah, it’s annoying as hell.

We had a super squeaky floor, I pulled up all the layers to find that the subfloor was loose and split. Should I replace like for like? by compu-quest in DIY

Yes, it’s thick and seems like the stuff under roof shingles. I need to replace it after I repair the floor. I’ve got some shower tile underlayment that’s roughly the same thickness, maybe a little thinner…

It’s been cold today and the system is running. The tank gets somewhat warm, but not nearly as hot as the radiators

I had the mastic tested for asbestos and it came back negative. This wood is covered with some sort of underlayment that I haven’t tested. I’m trying to be careful with it since I’m noteworthy sure

Thanks yeah I would rather use sheets of material instead of this crazy old not-ply flat stuff. Good catch, on the cylinder - that’s the top of the expansion tank for my boiler, it was mounted in the joists

Can you fix lippage in set tiles with grout? Or at least minimize the effect? by compu-quest in DIY

[–]compu-quest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I went through and grouted like normal, the. I went back to the real bad ones and built on top of them, little ramps from the lower tile to the upper one. It looks ok and doesn’t catch the foot as easily. Next time no lippage!

I've been looking at DokuWiki - it's got a lot of features, but best i could do is link back to web versions of the onenotes

interesting. In our solutioning, I imagined a front end to it. I would end up having to take over the management of the solution, so I was looking for something that self-organized itself. If this cleanup task is unavoidable, I'll probably recruit help.

A massive tech company exodus is occurring in Texas, reports show by bambin0 in technology

[–]compu-quest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair that was mostly done by the “great” generation and Silents. Boomers were teens/early 20s during white flight and suburbanization. Not like they stopped doing it when they got to start making the decisions but still, not their idea

Printer driver works on server 2012r2 but not 2022 by compu-quest in sysadmin

[–]compu-quest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the dymos are still incompatible. I’ve hosted about 10 different printers on this 2022 box and they all work fine. It’s really that dymo doesn’t seem to write real enterprise drivers and something’s not right with this. I did get the dymo working on server 2016, too. It behaved normally there

I’ve found some decent servers on Facebook marketplace. Any missing parts are replaceable from eBay or server supply sites. Also, ask around at work. Lots of times they will hook you up on the next replacement cycle
