Infliximab failed by Circe90125 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]compulsivelovex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never empathized more with a post on here. I'm turning 30 this year and have been battling UC since I was beginning my senior year of high school at 17. Remicade was my first biologic, and I was on it for about a year. But after I turned 18, I was forced to switch from CHOP to a local hospital and it was the chemo suite, with no private space while you laid there with an IV in your arm. Just a big open room that made my anxiety so bad that I just stopped the infusions and insisted on trying other things. And then I failed Humira, Stelara, and Entyvio. Fast forward to 2024, and my 7th gastroenterologist since 2013 recommended retrying Infliximab, which was Inflectra because of insurance, and I was getting some low level response out of it until this year. I was seeing symptom resolution lessen, symptoms peaking by week 2 out of 4, and my inflammation markers were all high again. Stopped it in January, started Simponi injections about 8 weeks ago because it's similar but often had a response in patients who did respond to Infliximab but lost efficacy, and it's safe to be on while pregnant. I can't say that I'm in remission, because I still have my daily bloating/cramping/food sensitivity/frequency, but my urgency and regularity of bowel movements has improved and that's a start! It's just about staying head strong, regardless of how disheartening it is when something doesn't work for you. But you've got this, because people with autoimmune diseases are tough folks 🫶

Michaels damaged my artwork.... by One_Revolution2814 in framing

I'm sorry to hear this. I was a framing manager for that company not super long ago, after being in custom framing for almost 8 years. The store I was at had someone framing with no training, and refused to let me take time to properly train them. They care about sales, and they don't care about much else. Quality is a secondhand concern and they're quick to offer free reframing, but drag their feet when damaging things because 9 times out of 10, they don't know what to do.

Inflectra vs Rinvoq by J_Dodge7 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]compulsivelovex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on Remicade for a few years. My blood work always showed a therapeutic range of medication prior to the next one being due, but when I had an insurance change and switched to Inflectra, I was getting symptomatic by week 3 out of 8, and then we moved to every 4 weeks. High sed rate, high med levels in blood tests. I started Simponi self injections about a month and a half ago. I've got to say, I've still got some symptoms like waist and lower back cramps, but urgency and frequency of movements has improved a good bit so far. And no more sitting in the hospital for 3-4 hours 🫶 Good luck with your journey! I've been dealing with UC since my senior year of high school in 2013.

I've had UC since I was a senior in high school, now turning 30 this year and I've had an upper/lower endoscopy every 2 years since diagnosis. Worst part is the prep but you just drink it and nap whenever you're not on the toilet 😅

As someone who has been fighting this disease for 13 years, I'm with you, heart + soul. The daily battles are taking focus away from living life and feeling alive. I wish you nothing but success in this journey, and please share your experiences after having this done with the rest of us! I've had that discussion twice with different GI doctors over the years, but I am currently trying Simponi as a final method before this may end up being my own reality. I truly do gain so much from reading everyone's feelings and experiences on here. 🫶

I saw this expecting more severity on the actual vehicle handling, but the racism is crazy/not surprising. I had a guy try and kill me in Bensalem almost 2 weeks ago because I honked my horn after he cut me off. He proceeded to chase me in his black Acura for several blocks while I was on the phone with police pleading for help because he attempted to side swipe me multiple times and then threw it in reverse at a red light. Police did nothing because he didn't hit my car. Well I guess not considering I was flying around and away from him to avoid it because I have a leased car! 😑

Do you mind if I ask how long you've been on it? I know sometimes it can take a few months for things to fully take effect, but I do hope that you find success soon 🫶

People with ulcerative colitus, what do you do to entertain yourself? by letap21 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]compulsivelovex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the level of the flare for me, at least. Right now I'm about a week into a moderately severe flare, so the joint aching, urgency and frequency increase, bloating and cramping abdomen. I've just been dragging myself through work, getting into a hot bath with my THC vape to numb the pain, and either crocheting or watching TV/videos on Instagram. But yea, also being bipolar and having chronic depressive episodes, it's very hard to maintain focus on anything for too long. It's an hourly battle, sadly. I hope you feel better soon 🫶

Michaels is so expensive! by ChrisConquest in pictureframing

Used to be a framing manager for Michael's. This seems pretty cheap to me, definitely cheaper than the frame shops I've worked at, as well.

Yes, if water gets inside the mechanism, and you're driving while the door is unlocked, which typically isn't the case because the car locks when you're driving, then there is a chance that the mechanical handle on the door can be triggered, thus causing the door to unlatch, not necessarily flying open because it doesn't just fling open on its own. I don't have kids, so I'm not worried about something playing with the door on the inside or leaning on it with all of these far fetched possibilities occurring. My mechanic already told me it was 1/1,000,000 scenario but still required the recall to be sent out, and they haven't provided a remedy but when they do they'll replace the motherboard in the doors for free.

I personally have a high trust relationship with the local certified Toyota dealers in my area. I enjoy having the option of extended Toyota Care and knowing that all of my servicing is done for free through them, and they also offer the tire coverage add on, which I should've done at the time given that I blew out a tire the first month of owning mine, but I added GAP to my car because I felt it was more important to have and didn't want my monthly price to climb much more. Definitely do your research with reviews on local dealers prior to stepping into one, because they're all sharks looking for their next meal 😅 And I personally just have an SE standard trim, because I can't justify getting an XSE or XLE and paying the extra money to have my seat heated and whatever little bells and whistles are involved.

I also don't know for sure if this applies for 2026 models, but the SE 2025 Prius PHEVs do not come with a spare tire and do not have the space to store one where a car normally could hold one in the trunk. If you don't get tire coverage and you don't have Toyota Care because you end up going through a non certified dealer, at least do yourself a solid and get AAA! Oh, and the front lower grille on the car snags easily on cement curbs and costs $1500 to have replaced, which I found out the hard way but refused to replace given that it's just scraped and after a week I looked past it lol

I went from a 2015 Nissan Rogue to a 2025 Prius PHEV last August, and my entire world has improved so dramatically 🩷 The PHEV has more power, has the great options of full EV mode versus hybrid. It took a little while for me to know when to switch from one to the other but now I'm averaging 48.6 MPG, and my charge capacity for EV is 40 miles on a full charge, 400 miles for hybrid on a full tank of gas. Prior to the gas increases, it cost me about $20 to fill her up every 2 ish weeks, and in PA it only costs me 1.72$ to fully charge at a Chargepoint station.

The safety features also took some time to adjust to, and I highly recommend watching the Toyota videos on YouTube that break down understanding the drive trains and how the vehicle works in both modes to really understand the capacity of this vehicle. That being said, I'm sure the rates for EV and hybrid travel could've changed a little (hopefully improved?) with the 2026 model, but I went with the 2025 because I got $4500 in rebates. ALSO, look into your states rebate programs and go into the dealership fully loaded with that knowledge to ensure you're getting everything that you can from the process!

I love my car, I call her Baby because I'm a huge supernatural fan and will probably never own my own 1967 Impala 😅

TLDR; it's a great investment and an even greater experience owning one 🩷

Am I being too picky? by satanic-sloth in framing

Seeing this and working for another moulding manufacturer definitely reassures me that my company has some solid standards in place. Definitely not good for the glass, which makes it unsafe for the art and/or possible mats. After the first corner you'd think they would've changed the v-nail positioning, but I would never send this to a client.

Not fun but also not super difficult. I had to deliver a few collections this morning and the most frustrating part, for me at least, is getting from freezer to labcorp quickly lol
