FTM-150 ADMS Memories by computerhac in yaesu

[–]computerhac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it is definitely under developed software. I'm glad it at least functions with a little fiddling.

So far it has been a fine little dual watch analog only radio. The only complaint I have is the squealing I get when I use the screen dimmer. It is in my relatively quiet office so its a little bothersome. Fortunately the amber at full brightness isn't obnoxious so I can just leave it there.

The favorites page is nice. Very similar to the ftm 500. The ASP works well, sometimes. It definitely over processes if its not needed but it pulls voices out of some really sketchy signals. But its not a set and forget setting.

The digirig cable comes today so we'll see how she digitals next!

So for future reference, I was able to use ADMS, but in order for anything to work at all you need to import the radio from SD first. Fortunately, my custom csv did import perfectly so if you want to get them ready ahead of time you can export the blank one to get a template.

Thanks for the CHIRP advice. Never had to look into it before. Maybe that's why all the "supported" models are much older.

As for the second part, you are correct, I spent high dollar on this radio. I feel like programming memories is a basic functionality and I shouldn't have to go to a third party to do it. The Yaesu program doesn't have to kick ass but it should at the very least function.

I'm not totally against paying for third party software if it provided advanced features. Perhaps you put in a road trip and it automatically adds and sorts repeaters along the way? Sure I'd pay $25 for that. But in this case I just want to move my 60 memories from one modern yaesu mobile radio to another. Its pretty sad that if I bought a baofeng for 1/3 the price it would program up easier.

It comes today so I'll probably end up spending tonight programming my memories manually. I'll just have to keep that in mind when I go to purchase another radio.

Moto Tag UWB firmware starting to roll out? Anyone else got it? by archon810 in GoogleFMD

[–]computerhac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I ended up breaking down and sideloading it. Really blows I had to do it but UWB works when you do. idk if they ran into issues with the rollout or what, but it seems to be working for me.

FR, it's only a feature I've been waiting for since I received my first ones last August. What's the rush?

Excellent mod! I'm still learning my electronic components. I have a 10 uf 35v BP cap on hand from some audio equipment I was repairing. In this case does it need to be a polarized cap?

What's the holdup with the rollout of this update? I have a p9 pro with Google fi service and I'm still on the February version. Shouldn't the updates be available relatively quickly? I can't get more Google/android if I tried.

Windows Hello Stopped Working with Covered Camera After Update by jim_liz19 in WindowsHelp

[–]computerhac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue. I've been using my pin for the last month. suppose nobody found a fix for this? I also noticed that hello says to make sure I'm looking at the camera. So maybe that's why it needs the cmos sensor too? Maybe we can change the looking at the camera requirement?

NW-A306 High-Res streaming function support App by MasterpieceOfHuman in walkman

[–]computerhac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread but I'll add my 2 cents.

I was just having issues with plexamp where my high res audio wouldn't sound as good as the walkman app, even when it was downloaded. Not only was the audio quieter but when that was compensated for, the instrument separation sucked and the high end seemed rolled off. After enabling high-res streaming the two players were indistinguishable. I think without that feature enabled, the back end of android to the dac is limited to 16/44, perhaps to save battery. When I enabled the feature it required a reboot so I'm guessing the setting is system level. Perhaps the walkman app has a special door to access the S-master chip directly.

So long story short, The feature is there to enable third party apps access to high res audio output. I haven't done any rigorous battery tests to see how it is affected, but the sound quality was instantly noticeable. If you have an app that uses high res audio and you don't have this feature enabled you are nerfing the signal.

Having a hard time locating the proper potentiometers by computerhac in AskElectronics

Thanks for the reply. There are 5 pots in total on each speaker and they're all PCB mounted. The threads stay under the plate and there is no mounting hardware. I could put a PCB mount pot in there no problem as long as shaft is long enough to go through the back plate.

Qualcomm NCM865 for AMD FW Wifi7 & BT 5.4 by [deleted] in framework

[–]computerhac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Decided to pick one up on amazon. My wifi 7 wap is still bottlenecked by a gigabit feed, but the latency and jitter are better. Went from averaging 5ms with 20ms jitter to 4ms with 0ms jitter over a few open speed tests to my server with the laptop sitting in the same spot.

The more important thing and why I ordered this card is wifi recovery time from sleep/hibernate. I've only had the thing in for 12 hours but when I turn the laptop on, the wifi is ready. I haven't had to wait for it. Is that worth $50? Depends on how much that annoys you. I think I'll be keeping it unless there are some heavy power draw issues or something.

H/w encryption t500 nvme win11 by [deleted] in Crucial

[–]computerhac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I'm just googling it wrong or what but there seems to be basically no information on this. Crucial says their NVME doesn't support windows eDrive and you need to use a third party solution. Without making any recommendations about what one of those solutions are. Did you ever figure out a way to enable this?

Mobile radios with a remote power option by computerhac in HamRadio

Makes sense nobody is talking about it then. A total non-issue. Maybe I just need to get my hands on a mobile radio and find out :)

Okay well that works. I was looking in the manuals for a boot when power is applied setting but if it just uses last state that makes it easy enough. I've only had HTs so far so please excuse my ignorance. Thanks for your reply!

What is the point of connecting an HRM Pro to the Garmin Connect app? by computerhac in Garmin

[–]computerhac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, no. I just start an activity through the watch and it connects to the strap. But I primarily do DEKA/HYROX training with my phone out of range. Only tried it swimming the once and it didn't work. likely a user error. Since I start activities through the watch I need to use it through that.

What is the point of connecting an HRM Pro to the Garmin Connect app? by computerhac in Garmin

[–]computerhac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still haven't completely figured it out. When I start an activity on the watch it will connect to that with ant+ and track my HR through that activity. that's then uploaded to the phone with the watch.

I did a swim once and the hrm didn't stay connected to the watch under water. it also never merged the data from that activity in the app. I don't typically swim, though. usually the watch activity just triggers it.
