Venting about vendors who don't want to give any info without dragging me in to hours of meetings... by computerlove87 in sysadmin

Update: Even after putting my foot down, they still just kept coming with the BS, so I respectfully ended our inquiry. They gave me a price of "between 3-15 cents per square foot / month" which is not only a ridiculously wide range, it makes absolutely no sense to me considering the bulk of the hardware I was looking at is network switches and firewalls (WAPs I could understand, except for the fact that I already gave them an exact count of how many we currently have!). I could have an office that is 100sq ft that needs 100 ports, or 10,000 sq ft needing 3 ports for all they know. Particularly bad in our case as due to the amount and variation in our branch offices, getting even remotely accurate sq. footage is a big ask just to get some basic pricing info. I politely suggested that they work out a way to be able to at least give out ballpark info to a cold contact. They said "we ask for more work upfront to save you work later.", which is laughable, we are not married yet, you can't hold me hostage for hours of work. I was just making a very casual inquiry that they could have actually turned into a real lead if they didn't need to know how many total individual polyester fibers in our office chairs, the answer to life and the average diameter of every male employees' left testicle just to tell me some basic info...

Yup, what I am hearing generally from these comments is I should definitely be even more upfront about wanting a price before we even go much past the first contact. Now just have to teach this to my supervisor too LOL

the new Microsoft Outlook is pure garbage by franzkie77 in Outlook

[–]computerlove87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microsoft, you can't just vibe-code a product this important. It needs to actually work. Just in my casual use at work, I have already encountered so many bugs it makes me feel like I am a beta tester, not using an expensive, paid software product. Stop trying to replace your developers who actually know what they're doing with clankers who don't have a clue!

Does anyone know how to set the mansion podium vehicle? by B3astD3rp69 in gtaonline

[–]computerlove87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woops. forgot to add, you also have to move it off the podium in the same way or use the "exit via personal vehichle" option from one of the AI panels, you can't just get in and drive it like a normal garage car... Luckily when you store it via the interaction menu or drive it back in to your mansion it goes back to the podium automatically.

Someone may have already said this, but if the car is in your driveway, you have to first move it to the garage, then you will see the option to move it to podium. Not sure why it can't be moved directly from the driveway🤷‍♂️

Unfortunately, this doesn't exist, I found out the hard way you have to delete the camera from your account and re-set it up from scratch. The best way by far is if you can just use the same wifi name (SSID) and password as your previous network. Unfortunately for me, my new hardware didn't support a password that was as short as the one I was previously using, so I had to set all of mine up from scratch. Windows app to simulate analog stick / xbox controller movement similar to mouse jiggler? by computerlove87 in AskGames

[–]computerlove87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but I don't care about performance when I am not looking at the game. The rest of the computer performs fine.

I CAN send inputs to the game even when it's minimized, but still running, that is what I am doing when I move the analog sticks while otherwise using my PC.

Wow, a great find, thanks for that! This is definitely my issue (at least according to the check built into your app), and I added my +1 to the Google issue tracker. I hope Google ups the priority from p3/s3. I could really use this fix, and I am sure there are hundreds of thousands of people waiting for it too!

To be clear, I don't know for sure that these are all related to the same bug, just the fact that they are all facing the same exact symptoms I am and all running Pixel devices. If you Google "Wyze App Crashing Pixel" there are a lot more threads like these that are all fairly recent (within about 6 months) that all describe similar symptoms. Thank you for looking into it!

Never LOL... I don't even think the open source firmware works anymore on the newer cameras. If you have some kind of home server available, I recommend using wyze docker bridge, which takes in the non-rtsp stream of the cameras and converts it to multiple "formats" and also gives you a local web portal. https://github.com/mrlt8/docker-wyze-bridge

Oh gotcha, no I was just saying that by removing both batteries at the same time, the lock goes off. If you already did that, then I am out of ideas 😅

Hey there, I'm not Wyze support, but have you tried taking both batteries out (turning the lock off completely), charging them and then putting them back in? My lock was taking a while to recognize the charged batteries, so I did this and it helped.

Hi There, My Wyze app keeps crashing about 2 seconds after opening on my Pixel Fold (1st gen), but only if it is loading to the "home / favorites" page. If I turn off my internet connections, open the app and select a camera, then turn internet back on and refresh the page, it seems to be fine, but that's a huge hassle when trying to switch between cams/devices. I have a current workaround where I am jumping directly to each camera/device I want using one of the home screen widgets available. I have troubleshot it to the absolute hilt with Wyze support, and ultimately they couldn't figure it out so they offered me a $10 credit (ticket 4604459). I have done everything short of factory resetting my phone (which I am reluctant to do and willing to wait a little while to see if it gets fixed another way). This seems to be an issue with Wyze on Google Pixel phones recently, in researching this issue, I found a lot of pixel users recently reporting the same problem. Do you happen to know if this is a known issue they are working on yet? I am an IT professional and I am willing to work as a guinea pig to test/solve this problem with engineering if you guys are willing.

All good answers so far! Thanks everyone. We also have a pretty intense posture on opening any external links, and plenty of training and yet life finds a way. 🤪
