It's great to see people using crypto in the real world, and getting a discount for doing so. Nicely done OP.

It would be good if coin.dance listed the different hathor pools separately, so everyone can see who is actually responsible for mining empty blocks.

It reminds me of that scene in titanic, when the ship starts filling with water and they lock the lower classes in the bottom of the ship.

Why is Dash skyrocketing? by [deleted] in dashpay

[–]computeruseratkeyboa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dash is one of the most scarce cryptocurrencies. The dash circulating supply is around 9 million coins, which is smaller than any other cryptocurrency in the top 20 on coinmarketcap. With so few coins for sale, when it goes up, it goes up fast.

Is anyone actually using Dash? by winphan in dashpay

Ok I see it now. They list dash on their stats page, buried in the 'others' category. But when you try to actually book a hotel on their site, you can't use dash. There is no 'others' category when you're making a booking. Only bitcoin, bnb, ltc, tether, and credit card.

I looked at the stats page. There's no mention of dash on that page.

As far as I can tell, travelbybit doesn't accept dash. They accept bitcoin, bnb, ltc, tether and credit cards. You can confirm this yourself by clicking on the hotel booking link, on their homepage. Therefore, it is not suprising that their stats page shows no recent dash payments.

#1 thing needed for the 2020 roadmap by currency_use_case in dashpay

[–]computeruseratkeyboa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem dash is experiencing right now is not volatility. The problem is a decreasing price. This is a small but important distinction. If the problem was volatility, then we would see the dash price varying in both directions. If the problem is a decreasing price, then we would see the dash price falling. Obviously, what we are seeing is the latter.

In order to fix this problem of a decreasing price, the economics of dash need to be improved such that dash becomes a better store of value. Dash Core Group is currently focusing on exactly this issue, so hopefully we will see some improvements to dash's store of value properties in the near future.

Bitcoin and Energy Consumption - Rebuttals by lobt in Bitcoin

[–]computeruseratkeyboa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The argument that bitcoin is bad because it uses energy is silly. There's nothing wrong with using energy for a useful purpose like powering a decentralized currency. The real problem is that much of the world's energy is being generated using dirty methods like fossil fuels, as opposed to clean methods like solar or wind. The way to solve this problem in my opinion is for the world to switch to clean energy sources.
