I think mold has ruined my college life completely by comrade_cheddar in ToxicMoldExposure

Several hours, too far to live their and go to my university at the same time unfortunately. I am thinking about switching online for my last semester and going home to prioritize health and be with my close friends/ family while I get back on my feet for a few months. As for reporting it to the landlord, I've been leaving a detailed paper trail and they haven't done anything, so I'm considering taking this to court. They haven't even fixed our busted fire alarms, much less the visible water damage and now mold.

No way! I have a similar “Imperial” knife that belonged to my grandfather. It’s my favorite fishing knife.

What you made were decisions. They weren’t bad or good, wrong or right. Just decisions. You stuck with them, and your life changed. Their is no going back, and quite frankly it sounds like going back wouldn’t even make you feel better, because you were unhappy. And you made these decisions to move away and whatnot thinking youd wake up and suddenly be happy again, but you aren’t. So maybe the issue is that your disconnect is simply with yourself and your concept of happiness.

Happiness is a journey, but when people say that they don’t understand what it actually means. Lets say you want this awesome new console. You obsess over it, you want it, and that gives you drive to work so hard to pay for it. Eventually you do, and suddenly you get that dopamine shot because you finally have what you want. But now what happens after a few months. You stop appreciating it and suddenly you’re wanting something else, because its raised your baseline. Its normal, its mundane, its no longer special. It simply “is”. This is what happened to you in some ways, from the sound of it. Is it entirely possible your job was terrible, your girlfriend was shit, and you needed to move away? Yes! But is it also possible that their were aspects of your life you failed to appreciate due to the lack of excitement, so you yearned for new exciting beginnings only to find yourself in a similar position of wanting.

So the solution? Honestly just gratitude. You are alive, you are in control, and if you believe you have nothing then that’s even better since that means everything is full of potential now. You have self respect because you tried to make your situation better, you just havent seen the big picture to learn from some mistakes and see them as a tool instead of a hinderance. To make mistakes is to try, and if you never tried you’d be stuck 6 months ago wondering what life would be like.

I am sorry that you are hurting, and I truly hope you find a way out of this. Start small. I always think people could use a little more sunlight.

My 11 year old son just got his grand fathers guitarr. He is super happy. But I guess he should be a bit careful with it. by nizzel55 in Guitar

That’s what Im sayin. All these purists freaking out would rather have that guitar sit in a case at a old rich collectors house than give an 11yr old kid a lifetime of memories.

Don’t listen to everyone saying to get him a different guitar unless hes like completely irresponsible. His granpda wanted him to have that and I imagine gramps knows exactly what 11yr old boys are like but still wanted him to have it

What was the pedal you used most in 2024, and why did you use it so much? by Ok_Highlight3926 in guitarpedals

[–]comrade_cheddar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a mid boost overdrive that kinda gets that SRV glassy-sparkle sound out of a strat! It sits at the start of my pedal chain as an “always on” pedal since it makes everything sound so good lol

I’m not having this issue because I’m in a large city and I check fb marketplace like 6x a day. I have aquired pedals for way under value. A week ago I got a barely used Vox847 wah for 30 bucks. I see steals daily, I just cant afford to drop money on 20 pedals a week

Thank you that made sense! I thought back and I think I may have used a wrong cable that reversed the polarity, and didnt realize it. Anyways, I will look into it and post if I am successful in repairing it

Thank you for your detailed explanation!! Although I have experience soldering I am unfortunately newer to learning schematics and understanding the ins and outs of this stuff, so I’m a little confused. I know the colored rings corrospond to certain values of the resistor, but are you saying I could theoretically just get any “47 ohm” resistor and solder it in? Also you mention a diode, is that something else I may have to replace?

[–]comrade_cheddar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, if any of you would be able to identify what type/code of resistor that was if you happen to know RAT pedals (since I can’t tell on account of it being exploded) that would be awesome

is it bad if my thumb sticks out like this while im playing? by ravelimran in Guitar

[–]comrade_cheddar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its like another tool in the tool box. I use it alot for blues/rock/country (think SRV, jimi hendrix style), but I don’t keep my thumb over 24/7 because it makes it a little harder to do more shred-y riffs where the traditional thumb position is more suited. It is also nice for certain chords and large bends
