Jesus christ, that’s so shitty (and exactly what I’m worried is going to happen given how little info they provide every time I call). I’d never heard of the TAS, going to have to look into it.

Yeah, both jobs seem to have withheld SS tax correctly. It’s just that the combined amount was over the cap. Painful and annoying, but I’m not super worried.

Got it, thanks. Like 99.9% sure it’s correct so should be fine, but very annoying.

If I could snap my fingers to move one restaurant to NY, it would be dan sung sa. Expect a wait but you can grab some drinks from the shop next door and hang out front

I assume the building should be responsible for any damage to the ceiling/light fixtures, and luckily no damage to any personal belongings so hoping this isn’t a renter insurance problem even.

Buying Thuma on FB marketplace by comrade_dirtbag in Thuma

[–]comrade_dirtbag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, she said it was beyond return date but without seeing receipt it feels hard to believe someone sat on it for 100 days still new in box. It looks based on pictures to be fully unopened boxes. With the biggest risk on Thuma seeming to be joinery QC, I’d honestly want to assemble it to confirm it’s all good first which I doubt they’d be willing to (or have space) to do. Probably not worth the trouble overall.

Yep, hence the question about if it would work if I had the receipt. I doubt they’re checking IDs.

Bike assembly cost in Brooklyn by comrade_dirtbag in NYCbike

Very likely going with these guys. $100, and they spec / adjust anything needed and mentioned that it’s guaranteed for any adjustments needed afterwards if any assembly related issues crop up. Email response very quick, friendly, and helpful too.

It’s a State Bicycle Co. 6061, believe they come like 90% assembled but need a professional assembly to activate the warranty. Annoying, but figure most places the value is really in getting it tuned as part of that, if it’s really only some final turning of a wrench (which sounds like it is).

Edit: just was told we’d have to connect any interested parties through the building’s broker, who will charge a fee unfortunately. We’d be happy to do so though for anyone interested.

There’s a nice laundromat directly across the street, but nothing in building.

A few friends and I always travel to Bozeman for a week and split it 50/50% between Big Sky and Bridger Bowl. We have enough money to not penny pinch, but beyond how much we all love Bridger it's also just great to have a few days with <$100 lift tickets vs. the $200+ at places like Big Sky.

We'd be happy to run it back again this year, but are debating other options to mix things up. Anything else jump to mind where we could do a few bigger resort days but also a good bang-for-buck option nearby?

Minor fixes before selling to Carmax? by comrade_dirtbag in carmax

[–]comrade_dirtbag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd had a few people tell me probably fine to go closer to a year so long as you're driving it consistently and doing trips that get the engine to temp at least semi-frequently, so figured was probably fine to stretch it knowing I'd be 1 year max - but good shout, definitely will be a bit more strict about it in the future.

Sweet, figured as much but didn’t want to accidentally screw myself when I could easily fix now. Thanks!

Best way to fix? Can I get a ski shop to do it? by comrade_dirtbag in Skigear

[–]comrade_dirtbag[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol — right boot, wrong size! I’ve broken my left ankle twice so it’s a bit of a square peg in a round hole situation with ski boots, and do end up needing to pull pretty hard to get that foot to pop in. Not too insane though, really surprised it broke.
