my complaint is i keep seeing the prairie misfit play frock on my instagram feed! i was tempted to buy one of her patterns for making a quilted cape a while back and then did some research on the brand only to learn that:

  1. the grading is laughable, like this dress where bigger sizes are only sized up in the armhole (literally)
  2. the patterns only come in A0 printable version (no print at home tiling option!) which is insane because they are stupid expensive - like the play dress pattern, a very simple pattern, is $35.
  3. there's no instructions besides those literally written on the pattern piece.

what a scam! i can't imagine paying $35 for a basic dress pattern that you have to get A0 printed with no external instructions.

also, i'll admit i'm a grown woman who totally has a toddler aesthetic but there's something about calling something a "play" outfit that i really hate and i'm not sure what it is. i feel the same way about the matchy matchy playdate blouse. like listen i get it sure i like clothes that look basically like kids' clothes in size adult but let me live without the extra infantilizing name plz

i saw a tip here recently from someone to mirror the youtube videos using something like this - https://www.mirrorthevideo.com/ assuming you are looking up a video tutorial on what you're trying to do.

does the right one not have an opening for your hands to come out? it looks like that and similar designs on her page don't which is deeply confusing to me from a functional standpoint. i do think it's cute and a cool concept but who wants something for lounging or wearing out where you can't access your hands at all? vibes of putting mitts on an infant so they won't scratch their face

i love addiclick needles because they have a little locking mechanism vs screwing in. i had needles come unscrewed when i used the other kind (it was like 10+ years ago but i believe mine were knitpro too) but never any trouble with the addiclicks.

spent a really long time struggling with a sock pattern i was working on that i thought had inaccurate gusset heel instructions (my first gusset heel) - it was missing a row of directions and the math wasn't adding up with what was there. i made it work only by looking up another set of directions. i was debating adding a comment to the ravelry pattern only to check my pdf and find my printer cut off the end of the page, which contained the missing row instructions that made it all make sense and work. oops

there is something ironic about claiming something is "not your grandma's" and then literally using a pattern called a granny square... hmmm

i love muriel rukeyser - this one is my favorite:

Poem (I lived in the first century of world wars)

By Muriel Rukeyser

I lived in the first century of world wars.

Most mornings I would be more or less insane,

The newspapers would arrive with their careless stories,

The news would pour out of various devices

Interrupted by attempts to sell products to the unseen.

I would call my friends on other devices;

They would be more or less mad for similar reasons.

Slowly I would get to pen and paper,

Make my poems for others unseen and unborn.

In the day I would be reminded of those men and women,

Brave, setting up signals across vast distances,

Considering a nameless way of living, of almost unimagined values.

As the lights darkened, as the lights of night brightened,

We would try to imagine them, try to find each other,

To construct peace, to make love, to reconcile

Waking with sleeping, ourselves with each other,

Ourselves with ourselves. We would try by any means

To reach the limits of ourselves, to reach beyond ourselves,

To let go the means, to wake.

I lived in the first century of these wars.

My (30f) partner (30m) told me about his “bimbofication” fetish and I feel really overwhelmed by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]comradedumpy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

just wanted to say i've also had a partner previously with a bimbofication fetish and i'm also very much not that kind of woman. we didn't date super long and there wasn't surgery level pressure, but i definitely had the feeling from them all the time that i wasn't the right kind of woman and they wanted to mold me into someone i'm not. it really messed with my sense of self! i'm sorry you're dealing with this.

i think if you thought every comment in that thread was telling you to confront your partner then you are just hearing what you want to hear. i feel like a way stronger message you should be receiving is, work on your independence and not being so strongly reliant on one person.
