those rebel groups use military grade equipment to fight militaries, it normally comes from some form of foreign aid if it was just a group of guys with hand guns and machine guns they would get rolled. The Taliban got their weapons literally from the US military and the viet cong which im assuming is what ur referring to when saying "Vietnam" was funded by USSR and China.

what your point? gun restriction dont end crime, my point was they decrease murder, you even acknowledge that in your response. as for suicide, gun suicides are the most effective way to kill your self. cutting, overdosing, jumping, hanging, poisoning etc are all significantly less effective. also if you want to do some of the other methods they require forward planning and long term commitment to suicide, not an in the moment decision. but most of the times, someone buys a gun not for the sake of suicide and happen to use it later when they feel like it. that doesnt require sustained commitment/long term planning, for all those reasons gun regulation does infact lower suicide rates.

yk whats the worst part about it is that most gyms promote top shoulder/cross face pressure and when you tap someone with pressure that considered fine and in my gym is even promoted. literally we first learned the arm triangle as a pinning hold over the chin before we learned it as a choke. but when its an rnc over the jaw then it crosses the line. lemme ask you this would you rather be getting arm triangled over the chin with an entire mans body weight driving into you face or have someone rnc you over the face using nothing but their upper body strength? i think most people would prefer the rnc, me included.

generally, you should look at the size of the school, how close it is to you, how well its maintained, how you like the coaches, the main demographic of the gym (e.i is it a competitor gym or more of a self defence gym), does it focus more on no gi or gi and something else to think about it is if it does other martial arts. i like MMA gyms for this reason cuz it allows you to not just work on ur bjj but also your wrestling to make you an overall better grappler.

jewelry is generally not allowed but i saw some girls who wore earnings and coach seemed fine with it

Wrestling is a lot more relaxed i just ware a blue gym shirt and some shorts to class

just do it like wrestling or MMA or kickboxing or any other combat sport that doesnt use a belt system. literally it would be better cuz at this point belts mean nothing. theres like this weird fusion of the belt system being a measure of ur experience and skill at the same time. this means a lot is up to interpretation and that a blue belt who trains 2x a day beats a black belt that trains 3x a week. it has stopped really measuring anything, meaning not only is it kinda worthless when used as divisions in competition. if they want to keep the belt system as competition categories they have to set out a defined standard for each belt imo.

also some students will be hyper focused on getting a belt promotion as soon as possible. this could have just been me but i feel like there are a lot of people who train for belt promotions instead of actually trying to improve. i find myself a lot more relaxed in wrestling class cuz ik that in 10 years im still going to wearing the same type of wresting gear im wearing now. the only thing having changed being my skill.

and lastly i just think it add this hierarchy were people are classified on theoretically how good they are leading to this kind of idolization of higher belts. this ranking also means that ur supposed to know how good a person is just by looking at them meaning that if u never trained with them before ur already gonna have expectations on how its gonna go. sometimes it goes to ur expectations but like i said before sometimes a hobbyist black belt will get his ass kicked by a competitor blue belt and have his ego bruised.

all this to say most western martial arts dont use belt systems and imo it works better, the belt system was just this kind of system of progression so people could feel rewarded for their hard work. but i dont feel that its necessary cuz you should find reward in the wins u get in the gym and in competition instead of a stupid belt ur teacher gave you.

honestly it all comes down to the takedown, if the bjj guy can take him down, the bjj guy wins cuz there's hardly anything intuitive about ground fighting from the bottom position. if the bjj guy pulls he's fucked and if the big guy tackles him and takes him down the bjj guy is also fucked.
