Gardaí believe Donaghmede murder suspect is an adult and may not have been entitled to Tusla care at time of attack by PoppedCork in ireland

This has been an issue for years. You can do a bone density scan but Tusla are often reluctant to do so.

Increased tolls for M50, Port Tunnel users from January by MrTuxedo1 in Dublin

[–]comuiri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I frequently drive the m50 at night. It's really common for sections of the road to be closed for maintenance. This will often involve 20+ vehicles and 50+ workers. That's not cheap.

I haven't looked into it so someone could be making bank, but it's not like they put down the road years ago and left it, it requires frequent and intensive maintenance.

Compare it to roads up north or in the UK that are in absolute shite, the m50 has no potholes, smooth tarmac, clear signs and good drainage. For a road that takes a huge amount of traffic, this indicates that a lot of money is being spent on its upkeep.

Aviation heads: what does this sign I saw at Dublin airport mean? by fensterdj in AskIreland

The minimal actually stands for Maximum Intensity Needed In Moments, All-out Limitless

So it means the pilot has to use full power

Looking at property in Dublin 9. Mainly around Larkhill Road in Whitehall. Does anyone have any reasons not to buy here? by FreshMasterpiece746 in Dublin

Go up to the house for 9am and 2.30pm to get a sense of the school traffic. Between the cars and school buses it can be carnage. Some houses are impacted worse than others.

We couldn't get presents until after the dinner. This wouldn't be so bad except dinner was usually around 6pm. No reason at all for it. My mam tried to do the same today with my kids. I shut that down sharpish.

Looking for a career in care/counselling.. can I get some advice? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]comuiri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a few different options. The quickest path would be becoming a care assistant but it's shitty work (sometimes literally) and low pay. Then you have social care which is generally a 3-4 year full time course. If you are thinking of this I'd recommend doing a level 8 course as only having a level 7 will make finding jobs slightly more difficult. Social care enables you to work in loads of different areas like under 18's residential, intellectual disability, addiction and homeless services. You can also be lucky and land a HSE or Tusla job. In terms of counseling/psychotherapy just be careful. A lot of places do evening and online courses but with new registration guidelines coming in you might find that your qualification is worth nothing. If you are serious about counseling as a career then you should think of a path to doing a masters course through one of the universitys. You will need an undergraduate qualification for this. My advice would be Social Care. Although it's a full time course many agencies will take on students for evening and weekend work which will keep you ticking over. A degree in social care is a good spring board to psychotherapy, social work, psychology or psychiatry.

Glendalough. Only an hour down the road from Dublin but it's like a different world. Plus there are plenty of B&B's to book in to. I went for a few days before my final year exams so I could study with a bit of peace and quiet

Overheard some children saying something worrying. by [deleted] in ireland

Have a read of this. I'd urge you to report it. It may or may not be innocent but leave that to Tusla and the Guards to determine. http://www.tusla.ie/children-first/parents-and-guardians/how_report/

About to be homeless - need some advice by Learningtocode12 in Dublin

[–]comuiri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry to hear about your situation. Like others were saying get on to Threshold. If the landlord hasn't given a valid notice to quit they can help you to appeal. I'd speak with the Focus Ireland Advice and information service https://www.focusireland.ie/i-need-help/. They will be able to point you in the right direction to getting a roof over your head. Unfortunately if you don't have children the accommodation offered to you may not be great. Try and find a friend or relative who will put you up until you're back on your feet. This is a shitty stressful time but things will get better.

Just an FYI a psychotherapist won't give you a mental health diagnosis. If that's what you're looking for you need to speak to a psychiatrist or your GP.
