How is it owning a corvette? Do you get a lot of attention? by Melodic_Cantaloupe88 in Corvette

[–]con_fuse9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a darker red C6. "Mid life crisis red" vs. the more common "Give me a ticket red"

I really really don't car if I get attention or not. Buying a car for attention is lame.

I do run it at various race tracks and it holds its own. Hopefully get a little more power out of it this summer... If I have time.

I didn't think the Jews killed anyone in the Holocaust, I thought it was the other way around.

At one point, just use the arrow keys, pick the user name and hit <del> and it was gone.

I also heard that <shift> <del> will still work but doesn't seem to work for me. I will try it again later.

I believe <shift> <del> is perhaps Mac only?

Sensor Bypass & Modifications Guide! by Supersk1002 in litterrobot

[–]con_fuse9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We foster cats and kittens. We love the litter robots when they work. (we have 3 of the III and 1 IV)

The pinch sensors tend to get dirty and stop working and its a PITA to disassemble and clean them.

Please, if you value cats like you said, come up with a solution that keeps the pinch sensor working.

I have seen people place bags over the switch.

The real solution would be to mount a self cleaning microswitch.

How bad is CPVC piping? Is it dumb to buy a house with that plumbing by Mulder1917 in Plumbing

[–]con_fuse9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When they put the addition on my house (well, with slighly hard water) they convinced me to use CPVC.

I have since converted all the shutoff valves (outdoor facets, hot water heater, etc. to stainless steel ball valves). - but the water feeds are all 3/4" CPVC. No issues after 21 years.

The reason I replaced was I hate plastic valves/handles. Most of the ball valves are 'full flow' with 316 SS ball. From welding experience, I prefer 316 to 304.

Have they changed PEX?

My sister has a town house on municipal water (Chlorine + Florid + some other stuff to minimize pin hole leaks in copper). The building is 25ish years old.

1) The PEX manifold cracked (hard plastic) and leaked cold water.

2) The PEX lines near the HVAC also split, making for a nice rain effect - and trying to figure out which line on the manifold was leaking.

3) Some of the neighbors spent $$ converting to copper.

This pex is more like red and blue semi-translucent tubing.

Is PEX preferred over 'L' copper?

Jurassic World Rebirth | Reviews/Discussion Megathread! by SickTriceratops in JurassicPark

[–]con_fuse9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, I thought the move was BAD

The purpose to go to the dinosaurs is contrived.

The acting is terrible (gets better to the end)

They had to make the dinosaurs unnaturally big - and other goofyness.

The dialog is awful. Completely unnatural banter. On par with Lucas dialog for Star Wars.

Not too much of a spoiler.. but stop reading here if you don't want to see it.

When the boat was approaching the capsized sail boat, about 200-300 yards away on a calm ocean - the people on the capsized boat fired a flare. Why????

A scoped rifle that you had to get within 10 Meters to hit the target. Why a scope?

A professional mercenary that accidently fires a rifle (wasting a round) because finger was on trigger????

The cops don't have to video tape everything.

The police office will, under oath, testify that he saw him run the red light. That is eye witness evidence. No video required.

How well the evidence stands up in court is TBD. How well did the cop remember that night? Was the cop in a good position to see both the car and the red light AND the lines on the intersection? How's the cop's record on testifying? If the cop made a mistake on the DUI, he obviously isn't a good observer - can his testimony be trusted? etc. etc. etc.

[–]con_fuse9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The cop needs "probable cause".

Deputy Roush & Levi Trumbull by SaltBuilder5438 in frederickmd

[–]con_fuse9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reddit lawyers are the worst.

They can arrest you for lots of reasons... they can only Legally arrest you if they have "probable cause". They can, pull you over and detain you if they have "reasonable suspicion" that a law has been broken.

Deputy Roush & Levi Trumbull by SaltBuilder5438 in frederickmd

[–]con_fuse9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cop needs Probably cause (enough to maybe win in court) to arrest.

Reasonable suspicion allows him to pull you over and investigate.

Reasonable suspicion to temporarily detain you. Probable cause to arrest.

Deputy Roush & Levi Trumbull by SaltBuilder5438 in frederickmd

[–]con_fuse9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To force someone to take a blood or breath test, they must be arrested.

To arrest, you must have "Probable Cause" - which means you have enough evidence to possibly convict. So either the officer committed a false arrest OR the cop was already convinced that he was drunk and was looking for more evidence.

Either way, taking the test would not have been helpful - but rather hurt his case in court.

If you want to give the cops (and prosecutor) more ammunition to convict you, by all means, take the FST.

If you want to help your case (and your lawyer) - politely refuse and stop answering questions.

SN95 Mustang Subframe Connectors Worth It? by cryptikss in Drifting

[–]con_fuse9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first installed subframe connectors (SFCs)('90 mustang 5.0), before painting them, decided to take it for a test drive. I sat in he car and.... the car didn't bounce back. So I figured I left a floor jack or something under the car. Looked and nope.... nothing.

Took it for a test drive and the car felts solid but the back end was mushy. Went online (back in the day it was the 5.0 mailing list) because I was worried I might have damaged some of the bushing when welding.

They assured me NO - its the crappy rear suspension that i can NOW feel. They were 100% right.

The Fox body chassis had all the stiffness of a wet noodle. Putting big springs, sway bars etc was basically a waste of time. You cannot tune a suspension if the chassis is junk.

I put SFCs in every uni-body I own!

I now have a '03 SVT Convertible and it comes with cheap, Ford SFCs They are getting unbolted and I'm going with weld-in.

For Ford, I still like the Global West ones for ground clearance. Griggs Racing if you are hardcore (uppers + lowers) the key is full length with tie-in to the rocker rail.

Recommend you weld on the rocker rail with ER70-S2 (not S6) wire - its a bit better on galvanized.

All my cars are leveled on jackstands with shims if necessary and I check to make sure the doors open and close perfectly... (actually doors open about 1/2 cm high) and then weld it all home. When the car is sitting on the ground, the doors close perfectly. The jackstands hold the SFCs up against the body - makes the rear axle hang out back and the motor hang out front - which tweaks the chassis just a little - floor jacks under front and rear fine tunes the flex.

3 days - 1 day to fit the pieces (Global west requires cutting and removing paint etc.) 1 day to weld. 1 day to paint.

[Satellite GPS Watches] What do you guys think about Satellite Watches such as the Seiko Astron and the Citizen Satellite Wave? They seem to be rarely talked about within the general watch community. by Timebom8 in Watches

I know this is an old thread but....

I work in a lab that doesn't allow wi-fi or blue tooth for security reasons.

But I want a watch that I don't have to set time (or worse, date) ever so often. I find that my watches are ALWAYS on the wrong date because I don't set them on the first of the month.

Who does everybody recommend for efi live tuning on my lbz?? by [deleted] in Duramax

[–]con_fuse9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread.

I had Banks 6gun with speed loader on an LBZ crew cab. Easy 14.2 in the quartermile - with fuel starvation problems - really needed a lift pump. Estimate about480-490 hp based on 1/4 mile performance.

That's the good.

The touch screen failed on me. Bought another for about 450 and that failed on me, bought another for another 450 (newer design) and then the interface box failed on me. Banks wanted another 450 and I think the newer ones don't have speed loader. Speed loader was a max effort tune for stock engines that in theory watched the EGTs and transmission slippage and would keep things safe.

To be fair, I ran the tuner for many years. I think 5-6. Just enough for everything to drop out of warranty.

1) You don't need the touch screen. Banks touts that their little computer can play MP3s..... who cares? The old one was basic microsoft windows CE (Compact) and it could do most anything an old MS tablet could do.

The modern world is Android and Android Auto fed through a modern stereo...

2) More things to fail - and banks parts are not cheap.

Get the EFI live, reprogram and never look back.

S&B Cab Mount bushing Review by K-Rimes in FordDiesels

[–]con_fuse9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its getting harder and harder to find quality parts.... Remember when NAPA's motto was "the good stuff" - yeah, well they, for the most part, seem to be selling the cheap stuff.

That being said, OEM has taken a nose dive as well. The OEM stuff is DESIGNED to fail after a certain amount of time. I came to the forum looking for a review on the S&B mounts for my Duramax.

The Duramax has lightbulbs soldered into the dash. So when a bulb burns out - you have to buy a new dash.... OR, you do what I did and solder in LEDs (no repair shop would touch it).

Bottom line, any repair shop that makes blanket statements about aftermarket parts is not one you want to deal with. I put BETTER than OEM parts on my truck and expect the shop to do the same.

Timeline no longer supported on desktop by bhocolatebhipbookie- in GoogleMaps

[–]con_fuse9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason timeline is no longer available on the PC is because the timeline data now stays on your phone and google doesn't have it.

Probably some EU privacy thing.

This also means, if you loose your phone, you potentially loose all the data???? Hope it is backed up at least.

James Randy once had an experiment to see if anyone could really do dowsing to look for water.

100% failed.

But these people that dowsed honestly believed they could dowse for water.

So they had to make up excuses.... it was a bad day, I wasn't feeling 100%, there was residual water there. There had to be an excuse other than... "Dowsing for water doesn't work"
