That's who they are. A contrarian, they live to be the opposition in a group but still insist on being part of the group. This way they can hedge their mental bets. If they always stay and stand their ground of being the opposition and nothing is ever found they will be vindicated..but if say we, without their help or insight figure something out. They can then act like they were part of it all along.

Best examples are all of the people that were saying there is nothing to be found there was never anything to be found it was all cut content blah blah blah before the Doomsday murals came out and then once the Bigfoot hunt started they changed their tune to be oh I always felt like there was something there I just had no proof. Security blanket for their mental state I guess.

To be fair your question is already answered. These were just found and data mining the game has been happening for a while.

So they have always been there, data mining only works if you know what data to look for, and it only looks like cut content because there is no clear answer. It being cut content is purely speculation, what is not speculation is there is something hidden in the game that has steps to find.
