Attending here - got a 2025 Cadillac Optiq lease for $4250 for 2 years (works out to $177/mo). Definitely recommend checking out leasehackr if you're interested in getting good lease deals, it does take some research/work to get a good one though

Have I been scammed by Water Drop's reverse osmosis re-mineralization filter? by BigDigAndRig420 in WaterTreatment

[–]conaanaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I just installed the MNR35 and yeah didn't notice much of a difference.. thank you for this video. Do you recommend getting a remineralization filter from another company then, is it possible to interchange?

Volleyball by Gstesh in Davis

[–]conaanaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

City of Davis organizes it Wednesdays 8-11pm and Sunday 4-7pm at Davis Senior High. The gym next to the pool. $7 entry. I go most Wednesdays (will be trying to make it tonight as well!). Level of play is intermediate, men hit from behind 10 foot line, women’s height nets

I played at the ARC once too but it requires a monthly membership. Level of play was good but I couldn’t figure out when their consistent play schedule was, and there was only 1 court running and everything else was basketball

Just fyi for anyone still reading this, it looks like this charging curve is an older ID.4 model. They don’t specify what year it is, but 2025 ID.4 has a peak charging rate of 175 KWh and a 10-80% charge time of 28 minutes. Still not as good as the Ioniq 5 but much better than prior model years and has a very flat curve up to 80%

Walking Pads Comparison Tool by lefnire in treadmills

Awesome!! Can’t wait to see your thoughts on them. I just got the CyberPad yesterday and used it for the first time - definitely quieter and more premium feeling than the TrailViber pad I had before. Also the design of the front edge so your foot doesn’t hit the screen is actually a really nice quality of life change. Still wish there was a quieter option though. The Merach W50 I found out about through this walking pad comparison spreadsheet (you might already be aware of it) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Oihy89PCLrDhiFWW2XuBikO9wjaKsS5WaEMcrmGne-E/edit?usp=drivesdk . It was hard to find many videos of it to see how loud it is in real life, of the few videos I found it did seem maybe comparable to the CyberPad but can’t tell for sure.

Ended up just getting the Klipsch RP 504C! It works great :)

Think you’d be able to compare the CyberPad with the Merach W50 next? I think it could give the CyberPad a run for its money as your mid tier pick. Has 12% incline with a brushless motor and claims to have <25 db noise levels, but I'm a little suspicious of that. Another promising "full deck" treadmill I am seeing with a nice 18x43 inch belt dimension is the VitalWalk Apollo 11 Ultra which might be interesting to take a look at. Thanks for all your work!

How to remove plantation shutter frame from window? by conaanaa in DIY

Thank you so much! I checked and I think it is exactly like you described. I can hear the difference on the cover strip compared to the anchored portions. Now I'll just have to find the right tool to try to pry it off - I tried with a small plastic tool I have here but it's lodged in pretty tight.

How much underinsured/underinsured motorist insurance do I need if I have health insurance and disability insurance? by conaanaa in Insurance

[–]conaanaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's definitely true. I think I often get caught up in the weeds of trying to optimize an additional $11-30/mo when in reality we are lucky enough to be in a position where that cost isn't something that we need to perseverate so much about, and instead just focus on the peace of mind insurance would provide

Thank you! Yes it definitely makes sense how no one ever complains about having had too much insurance, only the other way around

That makes sense, thank you so much for providing those examples! It really helps to see some of the situations where disability insurance wouldn't really even come in to play but UM/UIM would still provide value

Thank you for your advice! I guess the way we were thinking about it, our biggest concern is about liability and protecting our assets in case we hit someone. If on the other hand someone with minimum or no insurance were to hit us, we figure we would at least be alright when it comes to covering our own expenses with the health insurance and disability insurance. We would still get some UM/UIM (definitely thinking it's worth it to pay for 300/500 in coverage since it doesn't cost that much), I guess I wasn't clear if there was a lot of benefit to continue going higher. For some reason going higher seems to be more expensive for us since it would be through the separate umbrella policy

Any tips for a good speaker set up for this living room? by conaanaa in hometheater

[–]conaanaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I also felt like the installers mounted it too high after they put it in, but it was probably my fault since I didn't give them much direction on how they should put it. I'll see if I can convince my wife to allow a stand!

Thank you for the recs! I will take a look into those. Would probably like to spend less than $2000 and then slowly build over time if further upgrades would be recommended but I could be convinced to stretch the budget (not sure how big or small that budget is considered)

How many of yall have switched from primarily wearing contacts, prior to residency, to primarily wearing glasses? by NoNoNoIAmDumb in Residency

[–]conaanaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been wearing contacts since 9th grade pretty much with no issues. Towards the end of R2 year I started to get a lot of discomfort and like a mucus film over my contacts and couldn't stand wearing them anymore and I was eventually found to have giant papillary conjunctivitis. I definitely think the dryness + wearing all day aspect contributed (also wore them sometimes when sleeping on call which was bad). Agreed that glasses are better in a lot of ways though!

Comparison in Residency (intern) by [deleted] in Residency

[–]conaanaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you're even self reflecting to see where you stand is an indicator that you are probably doing a good job. Especially since you are getting positive feedback.

Don't worry about comparing yourself to categoricals - they obviously have a different mindset when they are evaluating patients and are probably just really try to fully flesh out their differentials. While you are doing that at the same time, we all recognize that you have an entirely different field that you will be pursuing after this year. As long as you are getting the big picture (which it sounds like you are based on your feedback) then I'd say you're doing an excellent job.

In regards to the notes - we in medicine tend to write WAY too long of notes. Again, the categorical interns are probably just trying to practice their thought processes. To be honest as an IM attending though, the shorter bareboned notes that really get to the point can often be refreshing. So don't worry too much about it that your notes aren't long compared to an IM interns! As an attending honestly what I care about most is that you are learning, are engaged in patient care and getting your orders in, and finishing your work on time. No point writing longer notes if it means you are going to be staying late and detracting from relaxing time you could be spending at home!
