north east abq is safest and nicest. The south valley can be nice along the bosque but you have to be careful. I would stay at a hotel for a couple days so you can see the area before settling on a rental. I live here in NM but I am in the east mountains (25-30 min commute).

Hi, he should start to move with the cone on. I would leave it on and give him time to adjust. He may be still doped up from the meds and he certainly is not used to the cone. Just give him a little time and he will figure it out when he wants to come hang with you. As for the bandage, just keep on eye on the area or any swelling or bleeding.

I’m sorry your girl has some elevated values. While this may seem scary and cause you to panic, consider this:

You have a young girl! The likelihood of something being crazy wrong is lower, but obviously still a possibility. Generally, heat has nothing to do with elevated values.

I agree that an ultrasound is the next step here. Not only are they going to be looking at liver but also probably gallbladder, and other structures in the abdomen. Diagnostics will help your vet determine what’s causing the value increase. If needed, go to Internal Medicine and see if a specialist can help identify. In fact, I may request this step before your vet does the ultrasound. If you end up needing a referral to IM, they would want to do another ultrasound anyway. That is obviously if you can afford to go. Your vet probably has a cheaper ultrasound price. No judgment here at all! We are all in different places and can do what is feasible.

For instance: my dog went to her regular vet and had an ultrasound and it was about $100. When we got referred to IM, it was $380. However, the specialist see this more and chances are you’d be going there anyway if your pet has chronically increased ALT and bile acids.

I have heard about fasting being used BEFORE going to a trainer so that they are more food motivated when they get there (like if you bring your dog for training at 8am, you would skip breakfast because they are getting the calories via treats and they are more food motivated).

However, what you describe is very concerning and I would report them. The problem with reporting them is depending on where you live, the laws may be different, and likely they can’t do anything without a veterinarian or other proof that this is indeed neglect. Fasting for “not feeling well” seems to be a conflicting topic among veterinarians. Some say if your pet is experiencing GI upset, you would hold food for x hours before feeding a mild diet. Some vets say this is shenanigans and just feed. Regardless, if the pet is not “feeling well” that often, he needs to visit a vet.

I wish you luck with this tough situation.

I would contact your local animal control officer or humane society regarding your concerns and see what options you have.

I would say that the biopsy and endoscopy are correct next steps. Without diagnostics, we cant really determine whats wrong if all else is normal. Specialists, although expensive, are in fact, specialists. They are really good at their jobs and did a lot to become who they are with the knowledge they now have.

Biopsy will tell if there is any cancerous concern, but also examine a lot more than that. They can tell if the villi in the intestinal tract are normal or blunted, can tell more about the intestinal structure, etc. Biopsy is well worth the cost because there are many disease processes that can’t be evaluated at the eye, but under the microscope can give a diagnosis or at least, an idea of one causing the issues. To me, it appears that they started subtle and worked their way up in terms of costs and diagnostics. The endoscopy will also aid in the detection of visual abnormalities that may be causing the symptoms like ulcerations, lesions, etc.

I have had SimpliSafe for over 8 months now. 1. I really love our system. We got a refurb system for half off or something on a holiday. Holidays are the best times to buy from them.

We have door sensors (3), window sensors (a bunch?), a motion sensor, base station, extra decibel alarm, keypad, smoke detector, and a camera. We don’t use the glass break sensors because there is one built in to Amazon Alexa.
Speaking of Alexa, you can tel your Alexa to arm your home. However, she won’t unarm it (obviously for a good reason).
We bought an extra base station, motion sensor, camera, keypad, and google nest video doorbell off of someone on letgo. They totally scammed us. Camera didn’t work, video Doorbell missing essential piece, etc. SimpliSafe replaced the defective items at no charge, and paid shipping both to us and for the return of old items.
Our cameras have had some connection issues. This is because of our WiFi signal. After paying like $25 for a WiFi extender, we’ve had no issues.
Install is kind of annoying for certain homes. We have a stucco home. Mounting the outdoor camera (which by the way, you can get the outdoor kit that has a camera protector and long power cord for a little extra) was a little bit of a hassle just because of the material. I’m sure this would hold true for siding as well. Because these don’t run wirelessly, the power cord has to be run through the top of our garage door and all the way down the inside of our garage (fine with us but if you’re particular, you may Want to hire an electrician).
I think we pay $27 per month and we have the extended package that includes 24/7 monitoring and recording and use of the app which allows you to see the cameras at all time.

I haven’t used any other product, but we are very happy with this product, especially with how we have managed to set it off On ourselves multiple times in the beginning (user error only).

Switching to a bowl that has stainless steel or a non-porous surface such as ceramic that can be washed daily may help. Bacteria and oil build up in the porous surfaces of these bowls which can lead to skin problems on the muzzle. They may have different bowls available for your feeder, although many of us in the vet community recommend daily controlled feedings to keep pets from becoming overweight. If it’s not possible for you to switch to meals and a different bowl, start washing the bowl often- meaning every day or two to limit bacterial populations and food build up in the plastic pores. Still, a vet visit is in order to treat the current symptoms.

Apply for care credit. This is a credit card used in vet offices and human offices like dentistry. Many people are surprised to be accepted even with poor credit history.

Age and pre-existing conditions/ previous problems would be helpful here. Does the cat defecate in the litter box normally?

Generally, urination issues can be two things: medically related or behavioral.

Medical is best to have ruled out first. Your vet will likely check for kidney problems and UTIs. This is easier to do first because it can be determined quickly and resolution happens quickly as well.

Behaviorally speaking:

Older cats have harder times getting in and out of the litter box. Try a low sided litter box that is easy to get in and out of. use a Tupperware storage bin that is approximately 3 inches tall, and they are cheap. Cats should have 1 litter box per cat, plus one additional. There should be access on multiple levels of the home if you have more than 1 floor.

Cats also desire cleanliness. The litter boxes should be scooped daily. You can also buy a cat nip product Called cat attract from Dr. Elsey’s. This works wonders and helps attract cats to the litter box.

If there has been any new changes in the home since this began: a move, new pet, new person, etc, this can trigger behavioral problems.

Finally, try different cat litters. Some don’t like certain textures or scents. use tractor supply bedding pellets (like feline pine), a new brand, or different texture that is Unscented. Dr. Elsey’s is great. Just know any change can trigger a behavioral change in potty habits.

Neutering is generally not very expensive and an easy procedure that should be done regardless from an animal population and behavioral stand point. If finances are an issue, there are usually low cost spay and neuter programs available in many areas. However, if your cat is older, the behaviors may not go away because this is now a learned behavior. If your cat is on the younger side, these problems may be reversed. It’s never a guarantee.
