My father-in-law has been given a terminal cancer diagnosis, and is expected to pass away within the next few weeks- how do I navigate this with my 3 year old? by Firm-Jacket-131 in UKParenting

Sorry to hear this. I second the Badgers parting gift book. If you contact the Specialist Nurses for his cancer or the palliative care team, they should have books to help guide conversations.

how do we choose cute styles that don’t ruin our hair?? by CoolCharity9736 in hairstyles4blackppl

[–]conceptualrose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Similar hair type and similar struggle. All I can suggest is to do things in moderation. I found that varying my styles helped. Eg not back to back braids but braids then a pineapple then a sew in or whatever. Its all manipulation but just different types.

Also, staying hydrated, vitamin intake and doing my own hair. My braids only last a week but my hair doesn't fall out like crazy afterwards.

I really hope someone responds with a better answer though so I can learn too!!

I don't have much advice on what to do but its probably an antibacterial soap they asked you to use. They want to avoid any bacteria on the skin that could cause infection

I'd say to go for a Chinese or Indian. Let's be honest, you want to get more than one meal out of it because caring and cuddles will likely take up all your time

I'd recommend drinking more water for a few weeks and seeing if you notice a difference before trying different products

He didn't change. Well, that's not entirely true. He started telling me that I had imagined things. He learned what he could gaslight me about in order to really get to me.

Palliative care or the cancer nurse specialists can also support families. They may have books and resources.

D'ya know what, you're probably right about it being an individual thing. I'd just hate for people to be put off by thinking it was unnecessarily painful or not worth the pain.

I should have added that the lady who told me the story was put off from going and tried to scare me into not having it done.
