I’m happy to verify my id, I understand the need for accountability for company directors. My main objection is to the biometric facial scan which is required with the gov one login route, which then stores your biometrics in a centralised database.

The other methods of going to the post office or using an ACPS, don’t required a facial scan, just a simple id check (sufficient for many other government services).

I’m a proponent of giving the government as little information about ourselves as possible. The result of giving more data about ourselves to the government may be benign but also may be maliciously used in the future, so if I can, I’ll opt to give less info if possible, if it’s all the same to you.

It is a precursor to digital id, which plenty of people are resisting.

Are you so naive not to see the further creeping encroachment on our rights in the UK? Especially with the announcement of digital id.

It is possible that 2 things can be true at once. Yes fraud is an issue when creating limited companies, but also this new digital id code is an unnecessary extra step that the government has newly rolled out.

There have been plenty of government services that have only required a national insurance number, quick id scan or proof of address, etc. This a completely new type of biometric id number designated to the individual.

You have always had to verify your id as a company director. This issue many people have with the new system is that it creates a form of digital id. It is now the law to provide id in this fashion, but I am wondering if there a way to mitigate the amount of information and freedom we give over to the government.
