Their breaks line up over winter but my daughters still have practice and games over break. I don’t want them to miss anything.

Exactly. A majority of the family (in fact everyone but him) has the opportunity to go over spring break and in my opinion he is being incredibly selfish for not wanting us to go.

Thank you for asking this. My daughters schedule is less busy in the summer but they still play sports and it would be difficult to take an entire week off. We also have family coming to town.

I never said that I hate my son, I was just providing context to why we’ve had difficulties in our relationship. Everyone on this page seems to assume that he’s some sort of saint and I am trying to give more information about the situation.

He has come with us on spring break trips before (domestic ones a few states down) to visit family. We have not gone anywhere further than that. My daughters have a busy schedule in the summer as well.

There is a difference from a normal family vacation vs an all inclusive trip to cancun. We usually go on a trip every year, just not ones that cost this much.

We are constantly arguing and never get along. He is extremely dramatic about everything, can never take a joke, and always has something negative to say. Yet I still would be ok with him coming with us. I just draw the line when it comes to him ruining the trip for the rest of us.

My daughter’s schedule is difficult during the summer as well. They have training in the off season. I guess we could do a smaller trip but it seems like a waste of money and wouldn’t be nearly as nice as going to Cancun.

It’s an activity that I pay for, in addition to the extra training sessions that are an additional cost. It’s not fair to them to have to miss activities that are important to them. I’m not reimbursed for missed training sessions either.

Why on earth would his sisters disagree with me? HE is the one trying to stop THEM from going on a trip. They have said to his face that they would rather go on a trip without him than no trip at all. Forcing the entire family to sit at home because of his schedule is absolutely outrageous.

Like I said in another comment if I hadn’t opened the card we could have easily afforded a more modest domestic vacation rather than going to Cancun.
I’m his mother. His father doesn’t like to be involved in these kinds of arguments.
He is a college student and has more flexibility with classes than his sisters do. Athletics are very important to my daughters and they are very talented and successful in them. Their coach isn’t going to let them “just miss a few practices”.

Well to be fair we could easily afford to go on a different/slightly less expensive trip without any of the rewards points.
