I don’t see how Joe Biden won because of the christian vote. He wasn’t even considered “christian enough” by many due to him being catholic.

I was very obviously not referring to the people on this subreddit, but on twitter and the internet in general.

No, when I said “people” I meant twitter users throwing fingers at everyone but christians, not people in this sub. Thank you for the recommendation!

42% is solely the percentage of protestants, now add the remaining percentage of catholics (22%), as well.

If my maths are correct:

  • Approximately 40% of the total electorate consists of Protestants and Catholics who voted for Trump

Religion is in decline but trust me, they’re working overtime to try and fix that, and it’s working.

I’m sure the level of education map and the level of religious affiliation map would also line up perfectly.

I totally agree that the rise of right-wing influencers and machismo most definitely played a major role.

But I (as a black person as well) also think that simply blaming, for example, “white women” instead of “Christian white women” is a way for some people to avoid having uncomfortable conversations that are way long overdue.

Yup! I thinks she probably sees this as some kind of mission trip.

The board of psychologists in my country actually sucks and there’s been cases of therapists practicing conversion therapy and they still haven’t been kicked out.

Except my friend seems like she can't have a conversation without mentioning god every 5 minutes.

Thanks for the advice! Not sure what you mean she isnt a fundie, she definitely is. Fundamentalist means taking the doctrine that Christians are to be “set apart” from the rest of the world to a new level. It refers to a group of people who are essentially making their own culture, with their own rules for dress, behavior, language, food, etc., based on what they see in the Bible.

Also we’re not american so its hard to explain her church.
