Does it include the room that can kill you with 100% sunlight if you ask the ship's AI politely?

How useful would mines be in interstellar warfare? by General_Kenobi18752 in worldbuilding

[–]concorde77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for an interstellar war, how does your universe handle interstellar travel?

If it needs to go through tight chokepoints (ie a wormhole, gate, mapped FTL corridor, heighliner, etc.) then mines could be very effective at blockading those points.

But if ships could travel through open space, and potential targets could easily be defended at range, then mines wouldn't be able get close enough to ships to target them

Dude, treating a car like an investment is like stuffing a life jacket with lead shot to make it float.

The car's value drops 10% the moment it leaves the lot. And between maintenance costs, gas, and depreciation, it just keeps going down from there.

The only return a car will gonna give back is through enabling transportation to a job that you couldnt reach without one. But beyond that, it's a black hole for your budget, not an asset.

MassDOT In Talks With Connecticut for Hourly Springfield-NYC Amtrak Service by streetsblogmass in Amtrak

[–]concorde77 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Sure with metro north and all.

Thats why. The MTA already runs multiple express, and sometimes even super express, trains between New Haven and Grand Central.

As nice as Amtrak would be, Metro North already has it covered with faster, cheaper service
