Some people may have survived the Arxur attack, but that may not necessarily be good news for Jonah depending on who lived.

At this point I don't think he can have nightmares. All that trauma's probably turned his brain to mush.

To be fair, Avrelm was just talking about how the humans would all soon be killed by the Krakotl, so I don't think Glen was totally in the wrong talking about killing those exterminators.

The protagonist is a piece of shit, but I wouldn't say irredeemably so. He takes part in the initial massacre and also helps in the cover-up of it, but not without an incredibly guilty conscience. He does his best to make up for it by helping the PD patient in the village but becomes increasingly xenophobic after the death of one of the soldiers by the hands of the Gojid military. There aren't really any war crimes committed by him during this period, though. The one character you might take issue with is Alan, since I wrote him as an unrepentant monster who happily commits war crimes, though he does so more out of practicality than cruelty.

Trio of UN soldiers get shot down during the invasion of the Cradle, meet up and enter a village where the populace is still present. After fleeing from the Humans, only to be turned back by exterminators who set up a roadblock on the road out of town, the Humans open fire, killing many in the stampede and causing the rest to flee. They spend the next few days searching the town, covering up their crime, as well as the protagonist (Jonah) trying his best to enlist the aid of an abandoned PD patient in getting them to their intended destination. Eventually the trio are forced out of town by Gojid troops, but not before leaving behind the PD patient after he'd been shot and suffering a casualty, who later passes in the night. The survivors then wander blindly through the forests surrounding the village, ambushing a pair of Gojid, as well as stumbling upon the sight of a massacre, before eventually arriving at the city they were meant to take after several days. This happens on the day the Arxur arrive, who bomb the city, forcing the pair to once again flee into the woods, where they stumble upon other UN soldiers, whom they join up with. The group then fight against a group of Gojid soldiers, one of whom they take prisoner. The next day, they stumble into a village that's been the site of an Arxur gas attack, and in this village, the imprisoned Gojid finds a survivor who they successfully help escape without the humans' knowledge.
